Like a PP mentioned, Preferred rooms are MUCH nosier. I don't prefer that at all, actually! ;)

I voted no. Especially at Pop Century, which is much better designed than the other value resorts, it seems like money unnecessarily spent. NO room at Pop is more than 750 feet (in a direct line) from the center of Classic Hall. Preferred rooms are just within 500 feet of that building.

I know people are saying "The last thing you want after a day of walking in the parks is that long walk back to your room" - but you could take the 'glass half full' point of view with "I've walked so far already today, what's a few more feet if I'm saving $x per day?"

No, a Preferred room at Pop Century is NOT worth the extra money; for $304, couldn't you stay an extra night instead?

Save the moola and get standard rooms in the 50's. It's all going to depend on availibity anyway when you get to Pop since you are traveling at a busy time and you have requested two rooms. If you want two connecting rooms, that may eliminate some areas of Pop anyway.

We had two connecting rooms in bldg 1 a few years ago, and that was very convenient for parking and close to Pop's main bldg.

herc.

I voted no.

We are DVC and usually stay at a Value or Mod on our first Fri/Sat nights to save weekend points. We also have AP's so we pretty much stay wherever we get the best AP rate. We have stayed at all the value's and mod's. On our last trip in December the only value available was preferred at the movies so we went with that. It was very noisy and busy near our room all night. I can't even imagine what it would be like in the summer when the pools are busy. We just didn't think it was worth it at all if standard was available.

Only one time I stayed at the Values I have not had a preferred room. The first time we were at ASM and were in the absolute last building on the property. It was exhausting to walk after the parks. When we stayed at PoP in November we had a preferred room right by the small kiddie sprinkler. It was close to the food court and not noisy at all. It is worth the few extra bucks. If you don't like the room they give you, you can always ask for another one.

I say no! Each section has its perks and they are all close to a pool anyway! I would save the 300$ and put it towards something else! or even towards your next trip :tink:

I voted NO. On our first family trip we stayed at All Stars Sports in a Preferred. I was so excited when we looked out at the pool. I thought it was the best thing. UNTIL.........we were awaken every night at 3:00AM with screaming kids having fun in the pool. (We were there in August).

We have since stayed in standard rooms and even though they may seem far from the busses and lobby, if you cut through parking lots it's just as quick.

We experienced this exact problem. From now on, we'll get the room in the back.

My understanding is that "preferred"--for the values means that you are closer to the main building and main pool. That can be handy if you plan on going to the pool a lot or if you have someone in your party with mobility issues and you don't want as long of a walk to the food court.

I don't feel it is a critical necessity of any trip unless there is some physical need that needs to be considered.

To me it just isn't a justifiable expense if you are carefully watching costs. It is a nice surprise upgrade though.
