Is it worth having a car there??

Does the car have to be registered in the name of the CP? I seem to recall an issue with this in order to have clearance with security.

For those of you that are bringing a car, make sure that your name appears on the title and the insurance information. Your parents name is not acceptable. If you need to contact your insurance company to add your name to the paperwork then do so. Too many people were unable to use their cars at first because they failed to bring the proper documents!

I am going to have to slightly disagree with that statement. My daughter brought a car down with her. The car is titled in mine and my husband's name only - SHE IS NOT LISTED ON THE TITLE, nor did we want to have it titled in her name. The address listed on the title is the same address that is listed on the insurance as well as on her driver's license. Her name is listed on our insurance policy as one of the insured drivers. She did not have a problem getting her housing parking sticker for both Vista and Chatham with these documents. She DID NOT have to be listed on the Title.

Her roommate, who is also her best friend and also from our home town, had the exact same documentation as we did, the car did not have her name on the title either. She was also able to get her parking sticker for both Vista and Chatham.

The only documentation that she needed to have was:

- Valid Driver's License
- Proof of insurance - in this case we brought a copy of our auto insurance policy which shows her listed as one of the insured drivers
- Title and Registration of the Vechile - again I stress that her name is not on the title at all, but all of the addresses must match and must also be listed on the insurance policy. The title/registration information must also match with the insurance information.

I am not sure why so many CPs believe that their name must appear on the title, but this is really not the case. Her last program ended in May 2011 so this was just recently as well.

I did hear the same information regarding the name on the title before she left for her program last fall, so I did contact Disney and confirmed what I needed. Sometimes it is much better to contact them directly if you are not sure about what is required/needed.

Thanks for clarifying this. This makes sense to me too. :) My husband and myself are on her car and on the insurance paperwork but she is listed as the main driver on her car.
