Is it vertigo or ...something else?

I didn't want to hijack the other vertigo thread but we have a weird situation going on here. I was out of town visiting my mother. My DH called me yesterday to report that he had some "dizziness" and nausea during the night...and, "oh by the way, my arms were numb and my left shoulder was hurting.":scared1::scared1: OMG~ If I had been home I would have definitely called 911. He went to see the pulmonologist in the morning, I guess because he was having some difficulty breathing too(he has lung and heart disease.) They found out that his oxygen saturation was down in the 80s, so now he's on oxygen, and his BP was 80/40--but no diagnosis. For some reason they didn't do an EKG. :confused3 So I sent him to his family doctor today. The EKG is normal and today the BP is 150/100--I've never seen it that high in the last 29yrs we've been married. Still no diagnosis. Family doc referred to the cardiologist--who can't see him for another month.:headache: So they're treating him for vertigo(with antivert and oxygen?) We're so frustrated. In the meantime DH is really sick of the "swaying."

Ya'll have any ideas??

Wow! first off I am the OP of the vertigo thread and I feel so bad for your husband. I did not have the numbness that your hustband had. However I did immediately take my blood sugar (it was normal) and take my blood pressure (it was in the normal range also). I was put on antivert for the first two weeks and it did nothing for me. My nausea was not bad. I do hope that they find out what is causing the vertigo and what the other symptoms are. I truly hope that the vertigo doesn't last long. It is one of those terrible feelings. I hope someone can help you out soon.

I think it stinks that it takes so long to see a specialist. I had some health issues last year and had to see 3 specialists and they all took me at least 3 weeks to get in for the first visit. I feel your pain

I would really have a complete workup especially with the arm thing including a cardiologist for HBP heart, workup for stroke (both can have arm symptoms associated) and neurologic workup also.

No kidding! Now if we could just get the docs on board with that idea. To the pulmonologists credit, he is getting a CT scan done tomorrow. I'm going to call the cardiologist myself in the morning and talk to the doctor's nurse and see if we can't work him in before July.:headache: I mean, hopefully all it is is vertigo. Vertigo won't kill you, it just makes you wish you were dead.:upsidedow But this thing with the numbness in the arms and the shoulder pain--I've never heard of that in conjunction with vertigo. Let alone a sudden need for oxygen...Erg. Well, if things start up again we'll be going to the ER, I guess.
