Am I really going to have to pay over 300.00 for a direct flight from bos/pvd/bdl or mht to orlando. I have been waiting for a good month now and can't seem to find any good prices. I have even tried Allegiant Air flying into Sanford. They are just as expensive as everyone else and they have a very inconvenient schedule. Any thoughts on whether a ding will appear or is it too risky?? We are suppose to travel June 22 thru June 30th. :sad2:

I had a look on www.Kayak.com, my new favorite airfare search site (covers everyone but SouthWest). For non-stops out of Boston/ MHT/PVD, the best I am finding is $307 r-t on JetBlue (out of BOS), which IMO is not bad considering gas prices and operating costs of the arlines at this point. If you are willing to make one stop, it comes down to $266 on Delta (out of MHT). I am not finding any better on SouthWest (PVD, MHT or BDL); the only way I can get under $300 on SWA is to have a return landing at 11:20PM, but you can get decent times out of MHT for $303, non-stop. You could buy now and wait for a ding, but I don;pt think I'd wait much longewr this close to your dates.

I think the days of the $180 non-stop round-trip are over, and that we will need to adjust our price expectations higher, given the current state of the airline industry. Fuel prices alone will tack on most of the increase, while others factors just complicate things.

Good luck getting a decent fare.

I found a BDL to TPA non-stop option for $219 on http://www.sidestep.com

Leave:
Jun 22 2:48 pm Depart Hartford (BDL)
Arrive Tampa (TPA) 5:44 pm Non-stop
Alternate airport
Return:
Jun 30 6:35 pm Depart Tampa (TPA)
Arrive Hartford (BDL) 9:22 pm Non-stop

Even the NYC area market which is still very competitive only has $247 RT Nonstop as the best price for your dates. Good luck!! :wizard:

Yep! Its time people realize we are going to have to pay more. I figured it was only a matter of time before airlines were forced to hike their fares. We just cant keep paying 180 round trip while their prices to operate continue to soar.

There are no summer sales out yet for Southwest. The current sale only goes until June 15th for the $59.00 one way. That sale ends on May 11th. However, when they put the rest of the summer on "sale" and I do believe that they will, it should be lower than $244.00 round trip plus taxes which is the lowest priced fare right now. I think you are going to have a hard time because alot of the seats are gone already on the days that you want to fly. The end of June is a very heavy month for travel. It is usually hard to get any sale prices for that time of year.

Thanks to everyone who has replied. I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet soon :confused3

Bo'sMom - Southwest has fares open until Sept 12.

They have had their summer airfares open for quite a while now. I booked my July flight with them Feb 23.

Sorry. My post must have been unclear. I meant that the "summer sale" that is going on right now and ends on May 11, takes you through June 15th only. Up until June 15th, you can get one way to Orlando from PVD for $59.00. The fares after the 15th jump to 122.00 one way.

OK - now I understand!

Good luck to the OP on finding some well priced airfare!

It can be really hard to swallow the higher costs when we have been so fortunate in the past at getting low airfares!

For our June 20 - July 3 trip we paid $310.00 non stop round trip Phil to Orlando, for the Dec trip we got lucky and paid 190.00 non stop round trip Phil to Orlando. Now, what is a ding ???

Just wanted to say 'Hi' neighbor...we're right next door in Westborough, dd lives in Grafton. Here's hoping you find a decent airfare for your trip!! I think we've seen the end of those nice under $150 r/t fares. If I can keep it at around $250 I'll be happy!!!
