Is it true you can upgrade at port for no $

I was told that if you book a guarantee room, you can upgrade your cabin at no cost at the port "if available". However, if you book a specific cabin type you would have to pay for any upgrade. Is there any truth to this?

No, this is not true. There has been.. on occassion.. people who have been upgraded, however, not by request. The cruiseline will do this for THEIR benefit, if needed to make more rooms available that they feel they could sell. You cannot request an upgrade. (unless you want to pay, of course)

I called DCL this afternoon. You can request at port but will cost money. See my thread on cost of upgrades.
