Is it true that you can only book 10 nights on AAA rate through Central Res?

AAA didn't mention breaking my 16 night stay into 2 reservations, but the girl at Disney said I had too. Sort of makes sense because the girl I originally talked to said AAA rate wasn't available. AAA said it was and the second CM I talked to at Disney CR said it was, but I had to split.

I just wanted to see what your experience was.

It is 14 days now. We usually have to have two reservations and it is not too hard. I just make sure to get down the desk early in the morning before the hoards wake up and get the paperwork switched over. They seem to be used to doing it and since most people that are checking out get their bills delivered to their rooms and do not have to actually check out the lines are not that hard.

Despite the scary warnings I have only had to change rooms once in all these years and that had more to do with the fact that we had a hard time getting rooms at a busy time and could not a room in the same resort for the entire stay.

Good luck and have fun!!

Oh yuck- Just though about something - Does that mean I have to put down 2 deposits too?

I didn't realize you had to go down the day the first reservation expires to re-check in??? That stinks. Am I understanding that correctly.

Maybe I should book with AAA, She said I only needed one nights deposit and didn't mention two bookings. Two seems like such a hassle.

I believe you can book up to 14 nights with the AAA room discount. When you put in dates beyond the 14th night, the rate code automatically switches and you lose the discount. Yes, you would need to put down 2 deposits.

From what I see, the rate for the full time period would be $1,962.08; broken up the total comes out to 1667.68 (did that quick though so be sure to check my math)

I would mention both reservations at your initial check in so hopefully you won't have to switch rooms if you are asked to check in again.

Your AAA agent will probably not be able to book one full reservation either with the discount. Sometimes the AAA agent is misinformed. If you do book through AAA make sure you don't lose the discount.

Have fun!

MelanieC, yes, you do have to go to the front desk and check out and then back in but it is not really that bad. It does not bother my husband at all. Oops, forgot I am the one who handles all the DETAILS of life. :lmao: It is really a small price to pay for an extended stay though and if you go early in the day the lines are not difficult and the CM's are well versed in how to handle it.

Yes, you do have to make two deposits but just think of it as having more of your trip paid for in advance. IF something would come up and you would have to cancel I have read that you can just change the dates of your trip to avoid losing any dollars though. I have never had to do that, yet.

I believe that even if you book with AAA you still have to have more than one ressie.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

So last night before I left work I asked her about the two reservations and she said yes there would be two reservations. She was very confusing because she really didn't seem to know what she was talking about until I brought these issues up to her. She probably wondered how I knew so much, lol!

Then I called DH on my drive home from work. The savings would be $294 or so and after buying AAA ($46 approx) we would still save around $250 dollars. When I told him it would be two reservations he said No, that it was too much of a hassle. RFL????

I said - hon, we would be saving $250 dollars and that is a lot of money. He then thought about it and agreed. I told him to think about it and we would talk about it later. Of course he was working late last night and after he picked DD up from a field trip at 10pm last night we never got to talk about Disney.

So I still don't know the answer. He would NOT be a happy camper if he had to change rooms. I mean this is a BIG issue for him.

How much of a chance to we have of having to move. It would probably ruin his vacation, lol????????? Maybe I can try to make it fall on a day we have reserved for the beach or La Nouba day.

I think I may post this in another thread to see what people's experiences are. Thanks so much for everyone's help.

The difference between $1600 & 1900 is huge (Heck that is a couple days worth of food -well depending on what restaurants we ate at those days, lol).

MelanieC, I promise you that even if you should have to switch rooms, which is unlikely if you are at the same resort the whole trip, Disney will make it almost pain free. On the one and only occasion when I had to switch rooms/resorts I just packed up everything and they moved it for us while we were in the parks and we just came back to the new room.

Only thing is, and I still feel guilty, is that in all the confusion I forgot to leave a tip for the movers. I still feel bad about that.

Slightly Goofy who thinks $300 is a big deal too.

AAA reservations are 14 nights now. I currently am holding a 14-night AAA reservation at Ft. Wilderness for October.
