Good morning, Js & Ks! :sunny:

skater - I always drink wine or beer at AKL so no suggestions from me on a cocktail. Hopefully someone else will have one. I know they used to have a Nahtazu (I think that is what it was called) but the menu is pretty standard from every lounge now. So, unless you know a recipe you will have to order from that.

Thanks! DH and I are going next month for a few nights (without kids :cool1:), and I thought it would be fun to sit there and have a drink one night. The kind of thing we wouldn't do with the kids :rotfl:. Any suggestions will be appreciated. DH likes exotic beer and I sort of like girly drinks.

Brandi already gave you great info! I have done this walk..not bad at all..unless they will depend on Jambo's restaurants/counter service for most meals...even in a studio they can have some groceries brought in!!! Even for just breakfast items, drinks and snacks!

Hope she switches! She will not be disappointed!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for the information! I think she's making the switch - I'm super excited for her and her kiddies! Her and I will be back at Jambo House Sept 2-6

Keep us posted! Her kids will love it....and Sept 2-6 is a great time, all the Labor Day crowds have left and kids are back in school...in 07 we were at YC, the Tues after Labor Day, we had SAB to ourselves! Hoping you have a great time!

Hi everyone! Ok, I have a question about Kidani. My BFF just got offered some points for her trip in Feb so she's considering switching over (currently has reservations at Pop). We've both stayed at Jambo but have never visited Kidani - what can you guys tell me? Her main question is food court, is there one or do u have to walk to Jambo? How far is the walk? It's her, her DH, her DD(14) and her DS(6). Thanks for any information!

You have to walk to Jambo for QS at the Mara, but there is no big food court like Pop has. I had groceries delivered for the first time this past trip, and I will always do so from now on. It was so convenient to have everything and not need to leave the room. Made things much more relaxed. Kidani has a small store that has staples but nothing compared to the store at Jambo House. The walk is not bad at all, but like already mentioned she can jump on the bus and the next stop is Jambo House.

All this talk about D & B's.....! No one has answered my question! I come to this thread to seek and find advice about all things Jambo and Kidani,,,like...is Kidani STILL doing the continental fare in Sanaa????? I will need bagels and bananas next mth!!!

JK :))))))

Sorry, I didn't know the answer when you asked. Will you have a car? If not you can always get groceries delivered. You might think you only need bagels and bananas, but you can get all the conveniences of home delivered.

I'm so excited! We are heading back Sept 16th thru the 24th. AKL Club Level.

Been two years since being at WDW, and 4 years since AKL Club.

First time ever in Sept, always have gone in Oct, but we couldn't pass up the great deal we got for Sept.

Looking forward to the Sunrise Safari!

Thanks for a great thread!

Congratulations!!! The Sunrise Safari is really neat, and the breakfast afterwards was amazing!

Hi! Thanks for your reply:) I asked because in Oct Sanaa had this and it was great! We were only at Kidani one night before we moved to BCV...where we had our groceries coming for the rest of our stay:) So the convenience of that and NOT walking to Jambo was great! You are right....makes life easy and convenient!
One of MY selling pts to DH to purchase DVC was the $$$ we would save on food with groceries...LOL..So trips with him groceries...with my kids and friends...Tables in Wonderland...lol
I was kidding abt bagels and bananas...I am doing the Princess Half next month and that is my "fuel" pre race:)

Posted this in the transportation thread...but gonna post it here too, since we've got some knowledgeable folks around here:

We're THINKING of flying (rather than driving) for our upcoming December 2012 trip (provided we can find air fare that fits into our budget).

We'll be arriving on Wed, the 5th...heading to the Hard Rock for one night, going to IOA, and then heading to AKV from the 6th til the 15th.

I'm THINKING of:

Renting a car (full sized SUV or van, actually...there will be 6 of us, total: 3 adults and 3 kids) at MCO

Driving to the Hard Rock Hotel.

Then, after our day at IOA (the 6th), leaving the Hard rock, making a grocery stop, driving the car to AKV to drop off the family, luggage, and groceries.

Then I would drop the car off at the Car care center (so we'll have to rent Alamo or National, I think), and hop a taxi (or will they shuttle me?) back to AKV.

Then, on the 15th, check out of AKV and take DME back to the airport.

Will that work? Are there other (better) options for that first part (MCO to hard rock to AKV), keeping in mind the grocery stop?

Can you "one way" DME for departure, only?

i don't know any of the answers but wanted to let you know that we rented from the car care center once and they picked us up from AKV...

That being said we drove to Miami and dropped it off there, so I really don't know if they bring you back after the rental, but I am guessing they do.

Pilferk, your plan sounds like the best option.

Yes, you can one-way DME - I've done it several times myself! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

We're also going to price out Mears transport TO the Hard Rock, and then Mears Transport to AKV. I THINK it would come in right around $180 for both legs. We'd lose the grocery stop, but we could just go with garden grocer (or someone like that).

I also might check out what a limo would cost, for both legs.

The 36 hour "one way" rental from Alamo or National, right now, is coming in at around $300...which is pricey. However, if I really work (coupon codes, and waiting til a bit closer to our travel date), I'm hoping I can half that, at least.

This is the site I use and National allows you to stack... In October, I got a one way rental from National for $40.....

Thanks! That's where I typically go, too. Just have to wait til a bit closer to departure time to get coupon codes that will cover our travel dates.

I think I can lop 30% off with the contract code I have from work, and then another $20 to $25 off with a coupon code. That would get me down to around $130 for the 7 passenger minivan.

Of that, I'd have to cover about $110 of it (My SIL said she would cover 1/6th of the cost, since she'll be along with us).

Hey Brandi, did we start a 2012 list for AKL? If so, wanna add me?:goodvibes

6/4-6/8

Thanks:hug:
