I think I read this somewhere and I'm wondering if someone can confirm if it's true...if the "season" changes during your stay that you pay the rate of the first day of your stay...In other words, if you start your vacation during a value season and then it becomes a peak season, will you only be charged the value rate for the room? Curious - and thinking about a trip next year.

Thanks!

Yes it is true. We always go in July but we check in to the Polynesian on the 4th (when value season starts) otherwise if we checked in on the 3rd we would pay regular season rates for the whole stay.

That's true. You can have it broken up into 2 separate reservations if you're arriving in the higher season. That could cause problems if you were getting LOS passes. Technically, they could also require you to change rooms, but I've never read of anyone here having to do so.

Our stay falls during a change from regular to value season, starting July 4th. We book the first part of the vacation and pay a deposit, and then book a second ressie for the 4th on. This way we get the lower rate for the second half instead of paying the higher rate for the whole stay.

We have yet to change rooms doing the ressie this way. The only thing we have to do is go to the front desk and have our room keys changed on the day the ressie changes. No big deal, and it saves us money!:)

KarenT,

Strange as it sounds, July 4th starts value season for the deluxe resorts of YC, BC, GF, Poly, CR, and BWI/BWV. It is not value season for the moderates or value resorts, or for WL or AKL.:)

I thought I was in a parallel universe for a second there. That's very useful information, although I doubt I'd ever go to WDW in the summertime.;)
