I've been torn about whether or not to do a character meal because I'm not sure what my two year olds will think of the characters when we get there. They are scared of chuck e cheese and the easter bunny, but i mean.. who isn't? :rotfl2: Anyway I think we've decided to just go for it. If they are scared the characters will just know to stay away right? I'd hate to get there and have them LOVE the characters and then miss the opportunity.

So we are going May 8th-11th. do you think it is too late to reserve? I'm thinking of doing the minnie and friends breakfast. And how do i go about it? I call and get reservations and then i can buy the vouchers from getawaytoday.com?

Well said. I am scared of Chuck E. Cheese too. Have you seen those things lately. Yikes!! I agree that you should go for it. There is something softer about the approach of Disney characters. And believe it or not I have 2 friends that swear going to Disney and meeting characters there made there children not afraid of mascot types anymore. :confused3 Get on the phone and make ressies right now.

We are going on May 1 and I just barely called and made my PS reservations last Wednesday. I made reservations for Ariel's Groto (for 2), Blue Bayou (for 10), Minnie and Friends (for 10), and Goofy's Kitchen (for 10). I had absolutely no problem whatsoever getting the times we wanted. The only problem was BB and that was because we wanted dinner ressies but the times were too late so we opted for lunch.
Call and make the ressies then call getawaytoday for your vouchers. Good luck!

I was so scared my kids were going to be scared of the characters when we went to as they are really not thrilled to sit on Santa's or the Easter Bunny's lap for pics. But..... when we got there they immediately fell in love with the characters, and it made me immediately start crying. My oldest DS2 (will be 3 at the end of the month) is autistic. He is not to over the top affectionate with anyone, but when he saw Tigger for the first time he immediately smiled and went to give him a hug. I just wanted to sob right then and there, because I was so happy.

I was planning on dragging DH and the kids around to do character autographs because I really had hopes and dreams of this perfect trip with the family, and after that first meeting w/ Tigger, I just knew that it was something my kids would enjoy. I think it is different because we watch the Disney channel w/ playhouse Disney though.

IMHO, I would definitely do the character breakfast to not miss the chance of your boys loving it. We also went to Minnie's and it was perfect. The character interaction is much more low-key than say waiting in line for a character in the park itself. The characters were very casual with the kids and even though both of mine were a little cranky from being a little tired still (we went first thing in the AM) Minnie herself was very understanding and really took it easy with the kids.

The characters are not going to push themselves at your kids if they are too scared. And make sure to talk to the characters yourself and tell them that this is your boys' first time meeting them... and they might be a little scared still.

Enjoy your time, DL with kids is so magical!

Oh....another thing - when we went two years ago, my then almost three year old DD was scared of the characters. She didn't mind the ones that were "people" but if they had a big ol' head or mask on, she didn't want to have anything to do with them. Of course, she has older siblings who loved the characters so we *had* to do them. The characters were sooooo good with her. They could tell she didn't want to get near them so they would hang out with her brothers and simply wave to her. It's nice that the characters are so in tune with the kids and can tell what their limits are.
