This is our 1st trip to WDW and my first time planning a big trip. We never fly anywhere and I am really anxious.

So is it too early? The package rates aren't out yet and I can't find very many flights right now. There are a few but they have transfers. I was thinking about flying Southwest because it looks like they have non stop, I can't do 2 take offs and landings in the same day:scared: , but I don't think they have schedules that far in advance.

If I wait until they release the package deals do you think I will have a chance of getting in at the time I want to go?

Thanks for your help.:)

It's always a good idea to set a game plan. It's not too early to get all the info you can on hotels, restaurants, park passes, and airlines so when the booking window becomes available you will know exactly what you want to do without hesitation. That will be a help getting right on the phone the day the dates can be booked so you guarantee yourself a good shot!! ;) There are WDW guides at the bookstores that are full of info and can be a great help. Gives the lay of the parks, restaurants, special attractions, parades, and character greeting areas!! Having all the info ahead of time and planning what you want to do will make a great trip!! :cool1: Relax and have fun planning!! :thumbsup2

Never to early to plan a trip to Disney! In a months time, I will be booking my March 2010 trip (DVC - so I'm used to booking early).

If you start now, you can watch for seat sales.

Good luck! And Have fun planning!:)

I have another question. Is value the type of room or the time of season. Like the time we want to go says value on the schedule of mousesavers but that is not the type of room is it?

Value seasons and value resorts are two different things. There are "value seasons" referring to particular times of the year when it is a good value for vacationing due to lesser crowds, lower rates, etc. There are also value resorts (Pop Century, All-Star Sports, Movies, Music) available during any season which are budget friendly.

We always fly Southwest, but have to wait to book the flights because they typically don't take reservations past 6 months out. This year for instance, we have our trip booked with Disney for Sept and won't be able to schedule our flights until April.

I hope not. We are going in February and I am starting to plan and think about lots of things. Nothing booked yet, but I am doing all the preliminary research. I am going to start a binder with all the information we need and can use. Then when it comes time to putting plans in place, we will be prepared.

A trip to Disney World need a plan. There is so much to do and see that it is not like going to the beach and you just do what you feel like. It is a magical place that you want to experience. Our first trip we walked zig-zag around MK until we were too tired to enjoy so start planning now. Probably the most important thing you want to do is figure out a budget for airfare, hotel, souveniors, food, etc. Then you can start researching hotels and restaurants. Have fun and use these boards, I have read alot of DW guide books but the people here have been there and done it. So sit back and enjoy the ride! :surfweb:

Nope, not too early. I started planning our December trip in January.

Happy Planning!:goodvibes

its definitely a good idea to get all the information ready so when its time to book you'll know everything in advance! I don't think disney is booking trips after december 09 yet but keep checking that and once that changes you can book it right away and get the time you want. hope you have fun.

welcome too:thumbsup2

Well I do know that they are taking room only ressies right now. I think we are going to do that this weekend. At least that part will be out of the way and I can wait for the packages to come out.

I'm sooooo excited.

It is never too early to plan. You can make a room only reservation up to 499 days out. Once the packages come out you just call and add the package to your room only reservation. We booked our room at the CR in Oct. 2008 for Feb 2010 trip.

Flights usually are out 6-9 months ahead of time depending on the airline. We use Airtran.

If you wait until the packages are out you will be a little limited in room type or even resort. That is why we book early.

Only 322 to go!!!
