Is it soda or is it pop? Once and for all

Funny, but in Minne"soda", it's POP!
LOL, I can't quite imagine the vendors at the ballgame yelling "COLD SODA"! Here they say, "COLD POP"!

One question for those of you who call all soft drinks, Coke....What do you ask for when you want a colorless soft drink that isn't a cola? If you order "coke" here, that is what you get.

It's soda in NH, but I remember waaay back when I was a kid we used to call it tonic, too. If you order a Coke here, you get Coke, not Sprite or rootbeer or anything else - just Coke. And if they don't carry Coke, you have to agree to let them serve you Pepsi instead.

Servers become defensive if you don't order the Brand they sell.

When I moved to Michigan some 30 yrs ago and asked for a soda they served me one with ice cream in it and when I asked about it I was told "Ohhhhh - you want a pop!" So go figure - when I go to Florida or back east I ask for a soda and get what I want.

It's all coke here....in the general sense. In a restaurant though, you order exactly what you want. When I say Coke, I mean just that. You'll never see me ordering a Pepsi. I hate it when you order a Coke and they bring you a Pepsi.
