with the strollers, at rides, restaurants, and attractions??

You've all have been extremly helpful with ideas and information. Although I can spend a few hours at a time on my feet, I'm so anxious about the magnitute of walking in the parks, especially the Keys to the Kingdom tour we are taking, that I will probably rent one.

The ECV's I'm familiar with (as a nurse) don't use "keys" or any other specific item to turn them on. I've read about stroller theft at times and am wondering if there is anything I should know before I leave an EVC to get into lines ect. Should I lock it, has anyones ever been taken by mistake?

The ECVs I've rented(from off-site vendors) all had a key. You should take it with you whenever you leave the ECV. The key is usually on a plastic bracelet. Most of the ECVs have a free-wheeling setting that allows the CMs to move the ECV if necessary without the key. Remember to turn the ECV off whenever you will be just sitting. This saves the battery as well as preventing any unintentional movement. If you decide to walk in lines you can leave the ECV with the strollers. The ECV will have your name on it. You might want to tie some sort of identifying ribbon so you can quickly locate it. Don't leave anything in the ECV you would be distressed to lose! No cameras, bags jackets. Things have "disappeared. "
Have a great trip.

I have been renting ECVs for about two years now. Up until my last two trips, I rented from Disney. The last two trips I rented from Walker (very good decision on my part :) ). I have never had any trouble with leaving my ECV to go into restaurant or an attraction.

I used my hubby's ECV as Ft. Wilderness internal transportation and left it parked in golf cart parking all day, every day, and under my dining tarp out in the open at my campsite at night and it was not touched.

All ECVs available for rent at WDW and from the local places will have a key.
