Is it ridiculous that I'm THIS EXCITED about Owner's Locker?

I finally signed up for Owner's Locker!:cool1: I'm sorry I haven't done so before as we've been 3x a year to WDW for the last couple of years. So I thought I'd be smart and sign up.

We're going to be at SSR in August for a long weekend and then at OKW in November. I have the locker being delivered in August as we're driving down and thought I'd load a box into the car to "stock my locker"....

I'm already putting things in that box! My hubby thinks I'm crazy...

So here's my "packing list" of sorts...Is this similar to what you keep if you have one? Some of this stuff I'd bring with me anyway or have it shipped, or delivered by Garden Grocer...but it'd probably be cheaper to buy it up by me and just bring it once and leave it there, no??

Coffee
filters
powder creamer
laundry detergent
dryer sheets
fab. softener
shout
Tide-to-go stick
shampoo/conditioner
body wash/sponge
toothbrushes/toothpaste
hairdryer (sorry - not a fan of the hotel ones:sad2: )
hair product (gel, mousse, hairspray)
makeup
*ahem*Jack Daniels
deoderants
granola bars??
microwave popcorn??
rain ponchos
aspirin
sunscreen
bathing suits?? Hmmm....maybe...not sure....

Sooo.....what do you think?:confused3

How about hand sanitizer, chip clips, scissors, tape, bandages and plastic bags? We also leave a backpack and nightlights in our locker.

I was just as excited when we got our owners locker so I totally understand. I keep most of the same items in our locker. We also store lanyards, beach towels, glow necklaces & bracelets, some of our Disney apparel (hats and a few shirts), Excedrin and band-aids. :thumbsup2

I really want one!!

It definitely takes a load out of your luggage with not having to bring the same stuff over and over and over. Every bit helps with the new airline restrictions on weight and number of bags. Toiletries, towels and some of our larger items that we only use at Disney freed up a lot of space in our suitcases (more room for souvenirs now)! ::yes::

You can fit more Jack Daniels if you get rid of all those non essentials. :)

I think Owners Locker is a great concept, but for us, I just can't justify the price. We are light packers as it is. We reuse samples until they are gone so bringing them back and forth is no big deal considering they are light.

I guess it really boils down to how you vacation and how you choose to live during your time at WDW. For us it just doesn't make sense.

On our recent trip my DW was pretty excited to get and stock her Owner's Locker.

As a background... I had met her in Orlando during a biz trip and I was sick as a dog... so instead of having a vacation together... she was my nurse. It seems that loading up an owner's locker is more fun for her than feeding me, giving me medicine... and sticking a thermometer into my mouth.

Looking at the pricing structure it does not look so cost effective. $99.00 per year for storing your stuff in a tupperware container. It would be cheaper to mail your personal goods to your resort ..IMO

We are beta testers of the Owner's Locker, have used it three times, and will be using it again in August. Imagine being as giddy to see the locker waiting upon our arrival as being in the resort itself! Opening it is like Christmas morning. Brian and John are providing a super service. I can't praise them enough!:yay:

Owners Lockers have run quite a few specials as of late and offer a great deal IMO. Yes I agree, if you are a light packer and have few needs at disney you don't need one. I'll tell you that I shipped stuff down once and the cost and inconvenience of sending it there and back home again was right up there with the annual fee of OL-and if you go several times a year like we do, it is invaluable. I'm not sure OL is really all that great for the casual or once a year visitor. Some things we have ONLY go on Disney trips and it doesn't make sense for us to schlep it back and forth all the time. Everyone does what works for them, for us OL works.

I also have in our OL:
Magnetic pic frames of our grandkids for the fridge.
framed pics of our son/his wife and our daughter for making our 'home' more homey
-a brita faucet filter
-flip flops
-Yard Guard for AKV patio
-extra batteries for camera, etc.
-coffee filters
-keyboard for laptop
-ziplock bags (qt. and gal. size)
-paring knife (for when we're in a studio)
-silverware (for when we're in a studio)
-cutting board (for when we're in a studio)
-my feather pillow (gotta have it)
The list goes on and on. Our trips are truly home away from home style vacations and it is wonderful to have our OL waiting for us.

I agree that it is a great service. Not only does it save bringing stuff back and forth... but it also allows you to keep things there that really should be part of DVC (ex: kitchen sissors, flashlight, fitted sheets).

I am 99% sure that we are going to upgrade to a 2nd locker on our next trip. I do think that John and Brian should make the 2nd locker more attractive (and I've told them)... but they also know that I will probably buy a 2nd regardless. I just feel that their business would benefit if they were to make add-ons less expensive.

My goal is to simply pick up my laptop bag on the way out the door with zero packing ahead of time. I think this is possible for myself... and maybe even for DW. We usually plan one big (2 week) trip/year... but in reality, we seem to go 2 - 3 times/year when you factor in biz trips to the area, and quick one week getaways.

If we get a 2nd locker, it will primarily be for clothing. I am not really sure that we can justify the extra cost... since it will primarily be clothes... but for the first box, we probably throw away enough unused stuff on most trips to at least pay the majority of the cost of the first Owners Locker.

The money only part of shipping, it is cheaper for us to ship. The time saved and the stress level is lower for us is worth it for us. We have only had our first trip loading the locker up. My DW and a friend and her son are going shortly. We are empty nester's and this is their first trip to the world. Less to worry about having in suitcases should make it that much more magical for everyone. Owner's Lockers are to me like DVC. It is not for everyone. It seems to be good for allot of us. Each has to make their decision if it is worth it to them or not. We seem to always forget something small. We made a list before going and changed it allot. We also have a few things we would not lug around or mail each way. That makes things more special in our units for us in the future. I assume we will be changing some things over time.

I wanted to get an Owners Locker. My son said no. He lives in Orlando, so he's going to be our "locker". We'll send a box of our usually Disney stuff before we go in September, get a big plastic container at Walmart after we get there, and leave it all with him for future trips.

It's not free. We have to take him out to eat - at WDW. That's his delivery charge.

Where do I sign up?

I recently signed up and will give it a try. We fly and I was checking a 2nd suitcase with "household type" items. I did not want the hassle of mailing stuff back and forth. Northwest Airlines, which we usually fly, is now charging $25 each way for the 2nd checked bag, so that is $50 round trip. I figure the Owners Locker $99 yearly fee is really only costing me an additional $49 over what I would be paying for the 2nd checked bag. That $49 is about $4 per month and I decided the convenience was worth it for me. I can skip a couple sodas or coffees and make up the $4 per month.

We aren't going until November, but I am gathering things together that I want to take and store in the locker. Are you all really fitting all of the stuff on your lists in your lockers? I'm hoping my stuff will all fit. My list seems to keep getting longer as I think of things that would be handy to have.

While we don't need an Owner's Locker ourselves at this point, we do have a similar container that we keep at home and take along with us whenever we travel to a rental home/villa. This works for us because we drive and we sometimes go places other than WDW  (yes, gasp, shock, horror....). The lists here cover all of it and more.

When we are doing multiple trips a year again, I can see the benefit of keeping a second locker with clothes. We have several clothing items that generally only get used at WDW and it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to just have a set of vacation clothes. Of course, I may find that I can just keep them packed here at home and take them....but if we flew it would be a different story.

Great idea- I almost feel left out because it isn't something we need!
