Is it realistic to be able to reserve Vero Beach within 7 months?

We're thinking about choosing BCV as our home resort, but I also think that we'd probably use Vero Beach a lot too...as I've been to the area and really like it.

My question: If we choose BCV as our home resort, do we still have a good chance of getting VB reservations even though we'll only have a 7 month window of to do so?

Thanks,

Deb

Depends on the time of year. Last year we wanted 3 days in Vero the last week of May. Couldn't find 1 or 2 bedrooms available even with the wait list. Too close to Memorial Day weelend maybe.

That being said, I tried at about 4 months. Might have had better luck if I'd jumped right on it at the 7 month window.

As long as it is not close to a holiday and don't want a Beach Cottage(only 6) and if you are pretty flexable with your dates you should be able to ge in at VB at the 7 month window.
But as DVC keeps growing, it might get a little tougher to get your 1st choice of rooms(1BR,2BR,studio) or dates at the 7 month window in the future.

Like was said above, depends on the time of year. We were able to get a 2BR villa within a 4 month time of travel. What helped us was that we went the first week of November. Our DD has off from school for teacher in service and teacher's convention the W-Th-F the first week in November every year, so we only had to take her out of school for two days. We got our 2BR villa for Su-Th for 120 pts, and had a GREAT time!!! :p

My sister was able to book a 2br at 7 mo. for July last year and then had to change it to september at about 4 mo out. She didn't have a problem reserving either one.

Something else to maybe consider if you know you would like to stay at VB on a regular basis is to buy some of your points there as well. As long as you buy at least a 150 BCV contract, you can add on as few as 25 points at VB through Disney.

Stayed at VB the last three summer's and never had a problem reserving!

That's a bit confusing to me...what is the benefit of buying some of your points at one resort and then buying more at another?

Does that mean, that you have an 11 month window at both resorts?

Thanks for the info,

Deb

Yes it does.

P.s. I have made resies at VB less than 7 months out.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond!

Everyone has been so helpful answering all my questions. I can't wait until we're finally members! I feel like I've made a whole new group of friends just through the answers I've received on this board!

Thanks again!

But the points can NOT be combined at the 11-month window. For instance, if you have 150 pts at OKW and 150 pts at VB you could not reserve a vacation at the 11 month window that would use 175 points at OKW...Only the points from that resort are available for 11 month ressies (Did I make sense, debbiebones? Sometimes it is a little weird to explain.)

Hi Chuck,

Yes, I think it makes sense pretty much. You're right, it is a bit confusing.

I think in our case, since we want a home base onsite at WDW, our best bet would be to buy all of our points as that resort, and then when we do decide we'd like to go to Vero Beach, we make the ressie there 7 months out (doesn't sound like it'll be too much of a problem.)

This however, does bring up another question for me. What process do we have to go through if we wanted to go to Vero Beach one year as opposed to BCV where we'll probably call "home"? Do we have to transfer those points over to VB?

It sounds like you could lose out if you decide to go to a "non-home" resort because you'll only have that 7 month window as opposed to your 11 month window at your home resort. Or can you make that ressie at your home resort at 11 months out....and then at 7 months out....try to get the other ressie and cancel the "home" ressie to book the other resort?

Hope I'm not getting too convoluted...I just want to make sure we understand the process thoroughly before entering into something.

Thanks,

Deb

All you have to do is call MS at the 7 month window and make the reservation. If there is availability, you are all set! If not, you can ask to to be put on the waitlist, check for other dates/room sizes or try another resort.

Yes, you can make a ressie at your home at the 11 month window and then switch at 7 months. Many members do exactly that. That way, they know they'll have a place to stay for their vacation.

Good luck with your purchase decision. Hope to welcome you home in the near future!

You didn't mention the type of accommodations you might be looking for at Vero:D At the 7 month window minus a couple of weeks we reserved an inn room studio oceanside for a couple of days in July. When I callled last week to see about getting a beach house instead;) the CM said all the oceanview rooms were gone (so were the beach houses). I had kind of thought I would reserve a one bedroom until I heard that--so I'm keeping the oceanview room unless the waitlist comes thru for the beach house:jester:

We made reservations at the 7 month window for VB. Our dates are July 2-6 which is the 4th of July weekend. So to answer your question, I don't think that it is unrealistic at all. Good Luck!

We have 160 points at VB. We also own at BCV. We would be open to the idea of transfering VB for BCV points. We have 160 banked and available April 2004 that we have no plans to book 11 months in advance.

Its an idea if it has a need, Happy Vacations

We tried last year to get any room on the first day we could for June and we couldn't. They even looked early for July and they had a day here or there but not the five days we wanted. So we ended up going back to Disney world for 2 weeks, or darn!!:p
