Is it possible to switch DVC guide?

A few months ago the DVC guide I worked with to buy a VGF contract told me he could not work with me as I needed someone registered on CA. I was referred to a new guide, but we don't seem to communicate well, so I'm wondering if it is possible to find a new guide. And if so how do I do that?

Specifically my new guide is a big fan of phone calls and I'm more of an email person. My emails are never responded to, but I do get a lot of phone calls mostly telling me to call them back and make sure I have them saved in my phone.

Any advice?

I like Ashley.Patinio@disney.com.

She works out of HI (Aulani), but is licensed to sell VDH and all of the WDW properties.

She has always been very nice and professional. She also emails me to let me know when I need to bank my points.

Yes, absolutely. I had to switch for negative reasons (not a great guide, pretty big mess up), but DVC was quite accommodating as they want a good fit with guides and members. Just make a request.

Guides need to be careful in what they put in emails and in writing. Mine does email
Me offers and things but calls when I have questions about specific things, which I am okay with because sometimes, like with VGF, I could tell by his tone of voice why it was a good idea to not jump on the BLT incentive and wait the day for VGF.

Do the guides work on commission? I suppose they do. I am in a similar position (though we are not members yet). The one I am working with really gave us some false information and while he is a nice guy, I am not sure I trust his knowledge.

Wow that would be very helpful!

Awesome will do. Sounds like you have an interesting story there.

This is a really good point and that's a huge deal! I'm happy to jump on a phone call too. My previous guide would often schedule a time for us to talk and those conversations were useful, but he would also at least reply to my emails.

My current situation is I send an email, never get a reply. But about once every two weeks I get a phone call during work with no heads up so I either can't answer it or have to interrupt a conversation. And that phone call (or message left on my phone) has nothing to do with any of the emails I have sent. I think I'm mainly saying I would like email to be an option for some quick questions.

You can always call the main number and ask if there is a way you can be assigned someone else...they will usually do that.

I haven't heard from a guide in 3 years lol. I don't think the one we had works there anymore.

Awesome thanks everyone just made a phone call and have someone that is registered for me and also in my timezones so that has been helpful.

Just in case you want to know the process, I Just called in as a new member would. I spoke to a new guide. I now need to send an email putting my request in writing but it's quite a bit easier to communicate with the new guide, so I think this was the right call.

I called recently just to see if there was anything Disney was offering that I didn’t know about before buying a resale, and found out that my guide retired years ago!

It was an interesting story, but (as hoped) DVC senior management stepped up and made things right. Very attentive and understanding.

My original guide was assigned the first time I called in before purchasing. I just spoke her once before buying resale. I just added on and she was in a cruise and unavailable so a different guide helped me with my first direct purchase. He told me if I wanted to switch to guides to send an email requesting it.

I am a bit torn as to what to do. I clearly interacted more with him than my original guide, but my original guide didn’t do anything negative. Plus he is on the West Coast and I am on the East Coast. My original guide is East Coast.

I’m also not sure who got the commission on the sale if they split it or what.

Does anyone have a VGF-specific Guide they'd recommend?

We started with resale, so we're members, but don't have an assigned Guide and would like to spitball ideas/options for VGF direct.

Reviving this. Currently have a guide but she really hasn't done much for us to be honest. Each time I've pretty much had to bring up the promos myself and really just don't feel appreciated even though I just bought another contract through her. With us planning to have our wedding at Disney it'd be nice to have a guide that actually cares and is willing to go the extra mile. Not trying to get free stuff but it'd be nice to just have a guide who has your best interests at heart. This was the same guide who tried to give me a June UY after telling her I like going in May so if anybody has any recommendations for a guide it'd be appreciated.

I would *highly* recommend our Guide, Lu Bernatow.

I've felt like she was putting in 110% for us since this summer. She was on it for a rewrite that got us a better deal in late summer and she called late evening instead of waiting for the next day when the VGF "sold out" came up with the extra points we had wanted but thought we missed out on. And when we had some stumbles in our process she never gave me grief and was very patient.

What I really liked was how Lu was the one suggesting things to us to make it better/easier that I'd read other Guides declined as available or resisted doing.

Lu is our guide as well, and I agree with everything you said. She's the best and super easy to work with! I highly recommend her.
