Is it possible to request not to be upgraded?

I went to AKV last year and had booked a studio with a standard view at jambo house. They upgraded us to a savannah view. I really wanted to see the pool. We are going again in Sept and I really want to see the pool this time. I mean no offence to the animals, but I'm not interested, It;s tropical palm trees this girl loves!!! Any suggestions??

They have re- classified some marginal savanna views at Jambo as standard view rooms so there is no longer the guarantee that a standard room will face the pool.
The best you can do is request pool view.

Where you booked with DVC points last visit. If you were your upgrade was very rare and would only be due them not having the other room to give you.

If you paid cash that is a different situation.

Yep - you probably did have a standard view. I was exactly like you last year. I had been wanting and expecting the pool view although I knew there were a few of the worst savanah views that had been reclassified. I figured we'd almost certainly get pool, but nope. I was semi tempted to ask them to switch us! (and the front desk told me I was lucky we were upgraded but that wasn't correct - it was a reclassified standard view).
