I know this is a long shot, but just wanted to check anyway.

We have regular ressies at the GF garden view for the end of Sept for two rooms. We got a chance of using DVC points, but there are no garden view rooms left for our dates. Is it possible to use our points for this reservation, or even to part pay the rooms with the points?

We are already paying a discounted rate, and have paid a deposit equalling one night's stay.

Thanks in advance

Joanna

I don't think you are going to be able to do that. I know the cash hotels are different than DVC hotels, but I still think that there are certain umbers and types of rooms that are available for points. I think it would be the same thing as usual where you need to cancel the existing reservation and then be subject to availability, availibility that you already know doesn't exist.

Regular hotels are different than DVC resorts and I am sure their inventories are treated very differently, it won't hurt to call, but I don't think you will be able to do that.

You would have to make the points reservation thru MS and then cancel the cash reservation.

If you have a discounted cash rate, it may be worthwhile considering renting the DVC points, since they may be worth more that way than you are already paying.

Good Luck!

Basically points reservations and cash reservations can never meet. If a resort is sold out for a room type and you have a reservation for either points or cash, you can never (risky word) just change how you're paying for it and keep the reservation. In some cases, a room could be available for cash or points and you still cannot book with the other, mostly at DVC resorts. You must cancel the one reservation then schedule the other if available. Or in some case schedule the second then cancel the first.

Everyone is correct. This is a faq I get from buyers who already have reservations. I have tried many times to get Disney to convert a reservation from cash to points and they just won't do it. (Unless you are a new buyer and you go through them, then somehow it can magically be accomplished.);)
