Is it possible to head to SW after DC?

Our family is heading to DC in October. We only have one day to do DC and SW. The day we are planning on going, DC closes at 5:30 and SW closes at 6:00. If we get to DC right at 8:00am for check-in, is it possible that we could be done touring the park by about 4:00 so we could head over to SW and ride a couple of rides?

You could, but DC isn't a "touring" park. It's a day for relaxing and doing things at your leisure. I could spend the entire day swimming with the tropical fish!

So it's up to you when to leave, and you could certainly do a little bit of everything and still make it to SeaWorld, but I can tell you they almost had to drag me out of DC at closing time!

That's too bad that sea world closes at 6pm when you're there. If it closed at 9pm or 10pm, I'd say absolutely you could do both. We did both in March, but SW was open until 10pm. We left DC at 6pm and did 3 hours at sea world - and in that amount of time saw everything that we'd wanted to see.

I agree with pp, since discovery cove isn't a touring park you will probably WANT to be there all day. Before going, I too thought maybe we'd feel finished at 4pm and head over to SW earlier, but nope, once we were there we stayed in the water right until 5:30pm when they closed things down (and even then we weren't ready to leave yet)! Discovery Cove is amazing!

But if you really want to see sea world too and are disciplined in making yourself leave discovery cove, of course you can do both in a day, if that's the only way it'll work.

Just a tip- when my husband and I did DC we were exhausted by about 4:00 (we got there as soon as it opened). It is an amazing place and well worth every penny, but being in the salt water and sun all day and swimming all day is tiring. We fell asleep as soon as we got back to our hotel, I know there is no way we could have gone to another theme park after that. We did Sea World on a separate day.
