Hi!

I was looking at the list of musicians available for a disney world wedding, and was just wondering if anyone knew whether this is all that is available, or if you could request other types of instruments if you wanted? I would love to have a cellist for the ceremony. Has anyone done this? If you have requested a cellist (or even any other type of instrument than whats listed), do you know if its more expensive?

Thanks!

Starseeker1221, please run your musical requests by the FTW folks. Disney is, or so I was told during a special seminar in Disneyland two summers ago, the largest employer of musicians on the planet. I was amazed to hear that. And if it's true, they have access to all sorts of wonderful musicians. I bet there's a cellist or two on their entertainment list.

During my event almost three years ago, a honky-tonk pianist played during the cocktail party, and a Western band played during the dinner party. The musicians were wonderful. They truly added to my event's ambience. I was definitely pleased.

I just took a quick look at the entertainment list on the official FTW website. I noticed that they have both a Classical String Trio and a String Quartet listed. I'm pretty certain that a cellist is usually a part of those groups, so I bet you're in luck.

Again, please run your musical requests by the FTW folks. They'll let you know for certain what your options are.

Thanks! Its encouraging to hear that they have some many musicians available, and I don't know how I missed the string quartet on the wishbook listing... must have been sleepy or distracted when I was looking and didn't even process that those would contain cellists!! :)

Starseeker1221, I am by no means a musical expert. However, I did check with Wikipedia just to make sure that a cellist was usually a part of a string trio or quartet. The following info came directly from the Wikipedia website:

- - - - - - -
String Trio:
A string trio is a group of three string instruments or a piece written for such a group. The earliest string trio form consisted of two violins and cello, a grouping which had grown out of the baroque trio sonata.

Since the early classical period, the most common string trio configuration in classical chamber music has consisted of a violin, a viola and a cello.

String Quartet:
A string quartet is a musical ensemble of four string instruments—usually two violins, a viola and cello—or a piece written to be performed by such a group.

Hopefully, Disney's definition is the same and you'll be able to hire a cellist for your event. ;)
