Is it possible to go swim at a different pool during the day?

Let's say I wanna go check out the Boardwalk. While i'm there, could I walk over to Beach Club and enjoy a little "Beaches n' Cream" ice cream and swim in the pool there?

my understanding is you can't pool hop - the pools are for the guests of that particular resort. but you can go to Beaches & Cream for sure. If you want to sit inside, get an ADR. I believe they also have a walk up window with a more limited selection.

No, you can only use pools at sister resorts. If you're a DVC member staying on points there are some pools that you're allowed to use, but not BC YC. There is a stickie above about using pools at other resorts.

Definitely not at Stormalong Bay - it's completely fenced and they scan MBs at the (guarded) entrances.

I think there are some pool hopping privileges related to DVC. Also, maaaaybe sister resorts (thinking All-Stars.) Aside from that, the pool is one of the amenities that you pay for at your individual hotel and pool hopping is not allowed.

It's called pool hopping as it's official name on here. Just do a search on it and you'll see tons of threads about it, as well as the sticky at the top of this page.

Wifey and I were waiting for our Cape May ressie time to come so we strolled the pool area to see if maybe we might want to stay there some time. We were in street clothes and some over officious twit made us leave.

No, the pools are fenced to ensure that access is limited to specific resort guests and dvc members.

how do they know?

Because Disney has installed fences around certain pools that are only opened by magic bands with reservations on them for that resort. Storm along Bay at BC goes a step further than that - they have CM's at the entrances that scans your magic band to make sure you are staying there and then gives you a wristband.

Depending on when you go it isn't just Yacht/Beach that watch for pool hoppers. Right now they are handing out wristbands at Poly and some days they walk through and scan everyone's MB even if they aren't giving out wrist bands. Several hotels have received new fencing because they have to now by Florida law. With that Disney took the opportunity to add MB readers to the locks so now if you don't have an active hotel reservation it won't open the gate to get in. I imagine as more and more pools get refurbished we'll see all of property go to that.

I'm assuming the locks are resort specific, correct? I wonder too what's to stop someone from coming behind us and while the gate is open and comes in too? I know not everything is fool proof but I dont see the MB scan as being very effective.
