I am going to Florida in December, as it was a last minute thing, I haven't sorted a car yet - normally I do this far in advance.

Is it possible to find cheap last minute car hire?

I haven't booked far in advance for a couple of years now. booking 1-2 months out getting best prices.
You will struggle to beat Holiday Autos/Alamo thru this link http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/othe...e/734198-holidayautos-discount-worldwide.html
It gives 15% discount plus just now 10% Quidco.

I always wait for a sale which they have had quite regular this year. Last rental I got 25% off code (plus 15% + 10 %) next rental next week I got £25 off code (plus 15% +10%)

So glad you posted that link again Wayne - I couldn't for the life of me remember it! Didn't use it last trip because I got emailed a direct discount from Alamo but it looks perfect for January trip - 2 door intermediate for 3 weeks for £306.85. Does that sound about the best I could get at the moment?

Wish I'd looked just a few days earlier and seen the Hertz offer but I'm too late for that.

£306.85 less 15% Quidco (expires in a day) = £260.82

There is a code on Topcashback for £15 off (SKIHA15) but it could affect your cashback. Not sure I would risk it myself.

Can't see you beating £260 for 3 weeks rental on an intermediate car, great price.

Well I must admit to not understanding quidco (first time actually used it) but they have sent an email about cashback saying it will be £18.78. Not 15% but better than nothing!

Send them a message to query it, they will tell you the reason. They do sometimes track at wrong amount.

Well they have an auto answer!

Don’t worry - holiday autos always tracks in this way. This will update to the correct amount prior to the cashback being confirmed in your account.

Though I also found the mention about the first £5 going to them so that won't bwe a surprise when it happens.

Will obviously have to see what else quidco will be useful for!

Anything and everything you buy on the net. I average about £40-50/month cashback. this month has been ebay purchases, 50p for ordering a free sim card from Voda, £40 for car insurance, lots more.

I must have done something wrong! Now got this message - have you ever had one like that Wayne?

We're sorry to see that your cashback has been declined by holiday autos.

Cashback can be declined due to a number of reasons, which we've listed below for you:

* The purchase was returned, cancelled or the order amended.

* The purchase was not completed wholly online.

* You didn't clear your cookies before you made your purchase and another referrer has been awarded the cashback commission (e.g. a price comparison site).

* You didn't comply with the terms and conditions of Quidco or the retailer.

* A voucher code or gift code not authorised by Quidco was used.

* The merchant has ceased trading or has gone into administration.

* The retailer has tracked your purchase twice and is simply declining the duplicate transaction.

If you're sure that none of the above reasons apply, please raise a declined cashback claim and we'll happily go back to the retailer to ask them to investigate further for us. At the very least we'll be able to find out why they've taken this decision.

Never had a problem with their cashback although someone else on DIS got a similar massage a few month back. All you can do is ask why.

Love all the legalise at the end of the query - along the lines that I understand that if any fraud found account will be terminated and any cashback in account withdrawn. We shall see what they say - apparantly holiday autos won't even look at it for 30 days because that is how they work. Appreciate all your help working through this Wayne!
