I really wanted to bring my parents back some cute disney goodies when I go with friends in June (they've never been before & it's my first time) I know there's so many regulations now on planes but food wise, I wanted to get them some custom made Disney Cookies, candy, stuff along those lines that they'd get a kick out of. I was told by American Airlines (I've heard so many answers though!) that cookies, chocolate, marshmallows and anything along those lines would not be permitted to be checked. I didn't want to argue w/ him on the phone but I don't see how cookies are perishable, but anyway what kind of stuff did people bring back goodie wise? I just want to bring them back something "disney themed" thats edible & very yummy. Does anyone have any suggestions or ways I could do this?

We flew SW, on our last vacation I brought back goodies to my parents. I packed them in my checked luggage. I brought home Disney shortbread cookies and coconut Mickey candies without any problem.

Hope this helps!

we usually just stick with bringing things like pretzels and prepacked snacks home with us. They are really easy to bring back in your carry-on. I would be afraid to bring back anything that could be easily crushed or smashed.

I have read that things that are really dense are hard for the security personal to see through, so I would think that things like cakes and marshmallows would be hard to bring back. But most of the snack type items should be fine.

I've had no problems bringing back mickey pretzels, mickey head krispie treats, or the disney animal crackers - all were packed in our suitcase.

Last October we flew AirTran, and had a bit of time to kill in Downtown Disney. Each of us made a pretzel stick, but decided to eat them later. We had no problem getting them through security - just opened the box. Got alot of comments about how they looked yummy, but they didn't have any problems with us bringing them on the plane.

Another idea...

Pack a box in your suitcase. A flat box (broken down), some packing tape and a sharpie.

Put the box together in your room. As you buy stuff put it in the box. Before you leave tape it up and address it. Take it down to the front desk they will mail it for you. It cost us about 20.00.

We used our towels (after we washed them...lol) to protect our goods!

You can get more home this way too!

Im going to do this because we bought so much we didnt have room to get it all home.

Or take an empty suitcase. You might have to pay up to 80.00 to check in an extra bag. Unless you have less than 2 bags per person.

I thought it was just liquids that were a problem...did something else change?

I bring our snacks home in my carry on bag. I don't want some luggage handler to accidentally crush my goodies. (I'm just a little OCD about crushed goodies.)

We are on the DDP for the first time in May. I can't wait to see what all kinds of goodies I can bring back w/ me. I am looking forward to some serious shopping at the Goofy Candy Co.
