Is it possible that I have lost 3 pounds already???

So I go to the gym today, walk/jog on the treadmill fo 2.37 miles, swim a few laps in the pool and then enjoy 20 minutes in the Sauna. I figured that I haven't weighed myself since starting Atkins on MONDAY....so I better see where I am at. I was preparing for the worst because it 's near TOTM and should be retaining some water by now.....so I get on the scale and it claims that I lost 3 pounds. After 3 days is this possible? But I have been working out those 3 days also, maybe that made a differance.:wave2:
 
The first thing you lose on Atkins is water weight. Are you feeling less bloated? Are your rings looser? It is definitely possible to lose 3 pounds of water weight in the beginning (in spite of impending TOM).

Please don't expect to keep losing this much on a regular basis! You will keep losing but at a slower pace. Keep up the good work! :sunny:
 
Yes, I do feel less bloated...don't notice the rings though because they haven't fit since DS was born:wave: Gotta work on that so people will know I'm married.

I am glad you are doing so well on Atkins. You probably have lost three pounds possibly more since TOM is coming. I have seen some people lose ten pounds in the first week. It seems amazing doesn't it. But like the other poster said, don't expect it to stay that way. It is a great jump start though.

It sure is possible. I'm doing South Beach and I lost 11 pounds the first week.

Keep up the great work on Atkins and you will be very pleased with your overall results.
 
Hi Ginger:wave2: and congratulations on losing those three pounds! I lost weight doing a modified Atkins (I'm a vegetarian, so I couldn't do the full program), but I kept protein high, with reduced carb/sugar intake, and exercised 6-7x per week. That first week I lost 7 lbs., in two weeks I lost 10. I don't know if your starting weight has anything to do with how much you can lose at first--I started at 235. The majority of it at first is water, but it is nice to see the scale go down!:) Your weight loss will slow down (don't let it frustrate you!), but as long as you're sticking with your program and exercising, you will continue to lose! You're doing a GREAT JOB, and I wish you all the best with your fitness goals!::yes::
 
Yes - it's very common to lose 3 or more pounds the first week! My dh started on Monday, and is already down 6 pounds! (He started at 252 though, so it will go faster). As a side note - he's a typical couch potato - no working out or exercise at all!
