To walk from the Sheraton Anaheim to Disneyland. On their website it says 1/2 mile but I have heard mention of difficulties with Freeway, would you have to cross a freeway, it is hard to tell from the map?

Thank you for your help

I'm pretty sure there are sidewalks all the way down Disneyland Drive. I think that would be a much safer/easier walk than Ball Rd/Harbor Blvd. The DL Drive route would take you past the west side of the park into DTD.

I agree with jlmarr. You could walk - it's on the backside of the parks. I think what they're referring to is if you were to cross Ball, and walk east towards Harbor Blvd, turn right, walk over the 5 Freeway to the entrance area.

I always thought that if I were staying there I would cross Ball, walk on Disneyland Drive, and go through Downtown Disney to get to the parks. You could also cross Ball, and then at Magic Way (which is the street to Downtown Disney parking & the Disneyland Hotel) cross there on the crosswalk & go to the Mickey & Friends parking tram pick-up area. The parks are a 1/4 mile from that spot. I've walked that, too, and it was an easy walk.

As JLMarr said, the best way to go would be to walk down Disneyland Drive and then enter through Downtown Disney. It would be a long walk, but certainly walkable if you're in okay shape or don't have small children who are unused to walking. I've walked the other direction (through Downtown Disney to the Disneyland Drive and then on down to Katella and over to Harbor) to get to the Candy Cane Inn after spending time in Downtown Disney. It's even longer, and it really wasn't that bad. However, I was with three other adults.

I've also read that from the Sheraton you can easily get to the DL parking structure and take the trams from there to the park entrance. It's supposedly very close.

It does look like a nice hotel. Let us know what you find out if you decide to stay there!

It is possible to walk from the Sheraton to the DLR, they also have a shuttle that runs every 15-30 minutes.

Thank you all for your replies. I thought it looked doable from the map, but I obviously hadn't picked up on the fact that people were going the other way around. That is great, I need a bit of exercise don't know about being in shape.

I hope the hotel is good, my travel agent advised in favour of it, but it has some dodgy reports on trip advisor, but I'm not too sure if trip advisor ever has all positives. We are just so glad to be going on holiday, I don't think we are the most critical of people, and things like air conditioning don't really bother me.

I haven't stayed there myself. I visited the hotel & some friends of mine stayed there & they enjoyed it very much. We thought the rooms were pretty big, though the bathrooms are on the smaller side.

Yes I've heard that about bathrooms, but its just me and a 5 year old so I'm not bothered. Ive read that it is tired, and bad things about the north tower. Is this still valid or has it been addressed do you know?

I don't know about that -- my friends (actually webmaster Bob of the DIS & his wife) stayed in a room that opened into an interior corridor, as well as opened out into the courtyard -- I thought that was a cool feature.

That does sound fabulous. I'm sure we will be so exhausted every night nothing will matter. Every hotel we are staying in on our trip has had bad reports.

Carlsbad Beach Resort Inn
Handlery Inn San Diego
Knotts Berry Resort (splashed out for a Snoopy Room)

I'm just hoping you Americans are pickier than us Brits and I will be happy. :goodvibes
