Is it only a party if you stay at the same resort?

On our next trip we are going with 4 families, but circumstances have it that we are staying at 2 different resorts.

For those who have gone in Grand Gathering style and stayed at different resorts - would you recommend it? Is it a pain in the neck, or no big deal? Should we fix our plans so we are all staying at the same resort?

In the past, when we have gone together, we usually stay together the whole time - same dining ressies, same ride plan (for the most part), etc - we tour together.

Thanks!

Personally I think it's fine to stay at different resorts. You can still plan meals together, and meet up at the parks. It's easy with cell phones and you can plan a time and spot to meet.

I agree. The only thing you wouldn't be able to do is swim together. If pool time isn't an issue, staying at different resorts would be fine. But if there are kids that want to swim together, you would have to stay at the same resort in order to do that (with the exception of any of the All Stars and POR/POFQ as those are sister resorts and guests can use all pools among the All Stars and both pools between POR/POFQ).
