Or is the Port Orleans Mystery pin unexciting? I was disappointed when I saw it. It doesn't seem to be selling well on ebay compared to the others. It's just not as nice. Am I the only one?

I think your right! The PO pin has fallen in price! Makes me think I'm at Wal-Mart!! I would guess its because of the way it looks. I still can't believe Disney asked $10.50 for this pin?? I have one, only for memories, because I have stayed there. There are currently 10,294 auctions for pins on just ebay. Some of these are for more than one pin. If you watch closely its seems to be a buyers market. Most pins close without a bid. I would say maybe 25 to 30% sell. There are currently 2 Press DL Mickey trading pins. One is at $200 ending in 8 hours and the other by the same seller is at a buy it now for $260. Seems prices are starting to drop. In my opinion I think a lot of people bought extra traders and are now looking to get some of their money back.
What are your feelings?
Al

Nope, I'm there with you. That is a horrible looking pin.

I'll say it again: Some of the most beautiful pins ever are among the humble, economical, simple racks!

Ugly pin - not up to - much less exceeding pin standards! The only reason I can find for wanting one is if your a die-hard WDW resport pin collector! Or just gotta have every 1000 LE pin. Do you think it would work as a "paint a pin" project? (That way at least it would be a LE 1 pin) just a thought.....

I too have no interest in this pin. When I saw it I said "another Disney marketing ploy!"

I think another factor in soft pin masrket right now is alot of pin collectors are saving their funds for the WDW Epcot Pin event. With 30 pins being released next weekend with an average price of $8.50 that come to over $270 with tax. Add to that air fare, hotel room, rental car, food, etc. and most of us have little left for extraneous purchases.

I agree. I have no interest in trading for that one at all. I'm glad I wasn't there, or I would have been tempted to buy a few. I also feel that folks are not only waiting for the pin event, I have found folks aren't trading because they are saving their traders for the pins they may not be able to purchase. I have my traders packed and can't wait until Wed. AM!!

Dom.. you took the words right out of my mouth.. err.. right off of my typing fingers? I think people will be able to get good buys on eBay right now because a good majority of us are wondering how we are going to afford next week without taking out a second mortgage!

Let me share this: Several online traders have put off potential trades until after the activity. With all those pins coming out in a few more days, soon will be the best time to go for the older pins at better prices in the auction sites.

Getting a hideous pin because it is an LE may backfire. I strongly discourage it, hoping to teach Disney's marketing department a lesson for once and for all! They are too used to throwing monstrosities and obvious choices of bad taste on the racks, taking advantage of the frenzy to catch a "mystery" pin.

Some collectors have taken away Disney' motivation to be the best! But it happens because it knows that pitiful, inferior looking pins will be sold when marked "limited edition"!

I have to go with DOm on this also. I beleive people are saving cash and traders for the big event.

I have no interest in this one. I love PO but this is so dull and drab.

Although I'm not known for being a controversial sort of person, I have to say that I think the Port Orleans pin is really very nice, albeit in a non-traditional Disney sort-of way. The pictures that I've seen posted in various corners of the 'net really don't do this lovely pin justice. No, it's not colorful, and no, it doesn't sport classic Disney characters, but there's something quite romantic and nostalgic about this pin when seen in person ('pinson'??)...Just MHO....

Of course, I also know that (as my father used to say) "opinions are usually worth what you pay for them".....;)
