Is it just me?

I was just thinking the same thing after reading a comment someone made on a post reply of mine. Sometimes me providing my opinion evokes what I consider a rude response. I am a big baby and of course I stew over the response for days and sometimes won't get back on the boards until I realize I am caring too much about a strangers words.

I too have refrained from replying to certain posts because I feel like if I don't have the right words, I will get blasted by someone. I agree tone is a huge part of the problem but for the most part, disers are the best!

I completely understand what you mean. I do find that MOST people on here are very nice and helpful.

But every now and then I come across a thread where people are lashing out at each other for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

A lot of times you can tell that they just "misread" the context/tone of the previous message. Which is why it's important to be very careful on forums like this. It's very easy to unintentionally offend someone.

But other times, people are just completely and unnecessarily rude. I don't understand it. We're all Disney lovers here and I guess that just makes me feel like everyone should be nice to each other.

I try my best to avoid getting into any discussions I see that are turning heated.

I have been here a LONG time. In general, I find many helpful, caring people. Sometimes I roll my eyes at seeing the same question asked for the billionith time (like can I just use an extra day instead of adding park hopping type question) but I just skip that or realize that the person is probably new and it wasn't such a stupid question when I was new. Here are my top 10 observations from 13 years here:

1. The VAST majority of people are extremely nice/helpful
2. People do not know how to read or just have selective reading skills
3. Tone is seriously underrated
4. There is a very VOCAL but very small minority
5. There are certain boards/threads I just avoid completely
6. Everyone is a perfect parent with no debt ;)
7. The elitist tone on these boards has increased tremendously over the past 3 or 4 years
8. The vast majority of people who visit Disney have ZERO idea about these boards or strategies or anything like that. So popular opinions/strategies/beliefs in DIS world in reality may only be known by a very small percentage of people.
9. If you watch reality tv, do not read reality TV threads. Someone almost always spoils the outcome :furious:
10. It is very hard for the vast majority of people to see all sides of an issue and articulate their stance while also understanding why someone else may feel differently. The FP+ haters/lovers is a great example. I think it will benefit my family but I can see why some people would hate it but yet I get attacked (even though I clearly state this) so I just avoid posting in those threads now :confused3

ETA: Bonus 11. Most people tend to forget that Disney is a multi billion dollar profit driven BUSINESS. Enough said.

# 6-7-8 :thumbsup2 Especially 8
and the bonus #11 BIG :thumbsup2
