I was very excited to see all the xmas decorations at WDW. It was part of the reason we decided to spend DHs Bday there. The decs. are beautiful but it felt wierd having 80 degrees and Xmas carols and decorations. I just couldn't get into the spirit. Am I the only Northerner that felt like this????

I am reconsidering this thought since its 18 degrees outsidenow :earseek: !

I agree that the 90 degree weather earlier in the month made it hard to get in the Christmas spirit. But it's cooled off a bit down here. Supposed to not get above 55 later in the week.

Oh gosh heck no! I'd rather be in Florida any day of the year! Right now, I'm in Chicago (a northwest suburb to be exact) and it's like 17 degrees now! I split my time between Florida and Illinois, and when it's like this, I'd rather be in Florida.

(Not to sound mean here....but....) I could care less about the snow or cold, just seeing holiday decorations, hearing holiday music and shopping and eating seasonal foodstuffs gets me in the holiday spirit!

But it truly depends on the person, some people love snow, cold weather, etc., I myself would rather be slathering on sunscreen and drinking something cool instead of digging around for gloves....lol...but to each their own.....

I was there last year for Christmas and we were freezing. One night we had on winter jackets and mittens and we were still complaining how cold we were. We felt right at home. So a couple weeks ago when I was riding down the highway in a convertible, with the Florida sunshing beaming down on me, listening to Christmas tunes, on my way to WDW, I thought it was great. :)

I agree. I would have a hard time getting into xmas. I'm having a hard time with no snow....not that i really want snow.....but it makes it hard.

We spent last Saturday at EPCOT. By day, whorts were OK with a light fleece pullover. We went to the 6:45 pm CP, by which time it was dark and much cooler. Bought a blanket to put over us or it would have been uncomfortable

Our best friends moved down there in July of this year. They are having a hard time getting in the Christmas mood. Still wearing shorts, feels like summer to them. But they love it, and we will be with them in two years can't wait. Would rather be putting the sunscreen on then my heavy coat and gloves. No snow is very good. :boat:

I am totally a "snow girl" for Christmas. Now for the rest of the year-- I can totally do without it (hate it). I like it from about 12/23-12/26--- that's good enough for me. Guess mother nature didn't get the memo because we got hit with just under a foot yesterday.

I think it's weird. I don't like cold or snow but it doesn't feel like Christmas without it.

Well I guess it doesn't feel wierd at all to me - I am an native Floridian so I am used to this weather. I love when it gets cooler because its so much nicer then the 90+ degree weather we normally have. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the snow but Christmas without the snow is an every year thing for me so yeah it feels like Christmas!! And after being at WDW this weekend it really put me more in the Christmas mood!!

I love Florida at Christmas time. No worrying about how the roads are going to be if it snows. Don't have to worry about loved ones traveling through the snow.

We came to WDW many times at Christmas and nothing says Christmas to me more than walking through the parks, hearing the music, etc. We also loved being in the hot tub on Christmas evening.

I lived up North for many many years but am loving the Southern feeling at Christmas.

Have you seen the Expedia Holidays travel survey? A HUGE number of Americans, especially midwesterners, say that they would rather spend the holidays on a beach than anywhere else: http://www.wsa.org/prnewswire/detail.asp?newsFEedID=141617

Have to say I agree with them. This is probably the last time we will visit family for Christmas, unless the family comes to the beach, too. My parents' generation are all gone now, so we are not dealing with the difficulty of travel for the elderly anymore.

I'm originally from NY and have lived in FL for the past 5 years. I've never had a problem getting in the holiday spirit without cold weather or snow. I think people here put MORE decorations and lights up because it's warm and easier to do. We go to beautiful boat parades and to Disney to look at the decorations and particpate in things like the CP to get me in the spirit. It's different, but no less Christmas-y!

I was thinking the same thing! I'm from NYC and I've never gone away for the holidays. I'm always with family in he area. It snows almost every Christmas, which I absolutely LOVE! In January, February and March (and a few times even April) when it snows I don't love it as much lol. But when it snows around the holidays it's so magical :cloud9: "Let is snow, let is snow, let is snow!" I don't know if I'd be able to get into the holiday spirit as much if it was 90 degrees, lol, but that's great for those of you who enjoy it!

That is so true! We used to live in Ft Lauderdale, almost in the Everglades, and i marveled at how they celebrated Christmas. It seemed like everyone put up lights, and not just lights, but candy canes, menorahs, snowmen, reindeer, the whole nine yards. Every palm tree was lighted. We used to ride around on Christmas eve with the top down, singing carols at the top of our lungs. We had the A/C on and gave each other swimsuits for Christmas.

Now that i live in GA, I must admit, it is easier to get into the spirit. But I loved that "exotic" Florida Christmas. :flower1:

Cathy--hey, is that a snowflake out there?

We're from Massachusetts and we have been to Florida for the holidays the last couple of years. It just feels odd seeing Christmas lights and such and having it be (relatively) warm. It's not bad, it's just different.

I don't think I could live there year around, as I like the change of seasons and the snow around Christmas. But give me a week in Florida any time during the winter, and I'm more than happy with the sunshine. We were there for Christmas a few years ago, and it "snowed" in MK on Christmas Day and Christmas Eve. They may have done it at Epcot or MGM too. I loved being able to walk around in shorts and enjoy WDW in the warm weather. I knew I would have plenty of snow to enjoy during the rest of my Midwest winter.

I don't think I'd like it at all. We did Disneyland Paris at Christmas and it was lovely with the decs and we were lucky enough to get snow. Gorgeous.
