Is it just me, or am I getting REALLY good at this?

It's D-E-A-D today at work, so out of sheer boredom, I decided to play around with our daily itinerary for our honeymoon trip to WDW next Oct. We are "only" staying 7 nights (too short, IMO) and I want to make sure we have enough touring time and yet not run ourselves ragged.

I've set up a spread sheet prgram in Excel for trip planing. Going down the first column is the date/day of the week (Sunday, Oct. 16 for example) The next columns are listed "morning, afternoon, and evening". This way I can plug in differant options for differant days until I find an itinerary I'm happy with. This is an example of what it would look like:

Day-------Morning--------Afternoon-------Evening
Sunday---MK, pre-open--MK 1PM PS ----Spectro/Wishes
-----------PS Crystal P.---Plaza Rest.

I was done in 15 minutes, on my thrid "try".

I still have to run it by my fiance, but wow! Sometimes, I even impress myself!

For those of you interested, this is what I've planned!

Sunday, Oct. 16th
Depart Chicago 11 AM, land at 2:30, limo transfer to GF, check in, un-pack, and rest up. Dinner at DTD (most likely Fulton's) and then see Cirque (we haven't seen it yet!).

Monday
Magic Kingdom all day. Pre-open PS at Crystal Palace, stay all day and see Spectro and Wishes in the evening.

Tuesday
Resort day, no parks. Hang out at pool, maybe a spa treatment or massage! Dinner at V&A's (haven't eaten there yet!).

Wednesday
Epcot all day, lunch in WS (restaurant TBD) and dinner in France, stay for IllumiNations.

Thursday
One of the water parks until mid-afternoon. Evening will either be A) A theme park of our choice B) MNSSHP if it is running that night or C) spend evening at resort.

Friday
MGM all day, Fantasmic dinner package at the Brown Derby

Saturday
AK until about 2, then park hop to MK for balance of the day.

Sunday
Breakfast at hotel, then limo to airport for our 1:25 PM flight home :(

Of course this is still subject to change, but I really like this one! Gee, 289 days to go, however will I pass the time?

Well, if you're looking for more ways to fill your time, you can create a spreadsheet listing all of your PS wishes by day and exactly *when* you can call about them. That oughtta take 5 or 10 minutes. :)

Then once you call, it will be easy to add the time and PS # to the spreadsheet and it will be ready to print out and take with you.

Your plan looks great! You can always spend a few hours planning your vacation wardrobe day be day, of course I've NEVER done that...

Looks great, want to rent yourself out to help plan mine...only worry I have of you plan is the 1 night to "possible" go to MNSSHP...you CANNOT miss there if you are going this time of year...maybe you can flex some of your other evenings to accomodate the party..it is NOT TO BE MISSED !!!

The only reason I have the party as a toss up is because I don't know if they'll have it that day. If they do, we'll be there for sure, pre-purchased tickets in hand! If not, then we may have to jugle the schedule a bit. We went to the Christmas Party and had fun, so I hope to do the Halloween one, too!

Oh, and ehallison, I did that on my last trip! I had it noted next to the "day". Thanks for reminding me, I'll add that on next! Once I get the confirmation numbers and exact PS times, I note that on the spread sheet, too. This way all the info is in one spot!

Edited to add: I just found a site that lists the historical park hours, firworks, and parade times, and I already need to do some itinerary tweeking. But not much, so my 1st draft stood the test! Not too shabby!

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!
You sound like me!! I have my spreadsheet planned for my 2006 trip (so close to talking dh in to going 2005 instead of (or maybe AND) 2006 so I gotta be ready!!
No interest in going to PI at night huh? Ya might want ONE evening at the resort. I'm sure you'll find something to do. ;)
Don't forget to get those cute bride/groom hats!
Ok, here is more info for your spreadsheet. I always create a tab for the travel details (flight info, rental car info, hotel info) with all my confirmations etc. I create a tab for each day (yes, I am pretty commando, but actually pretty good about ditching the spreadsheet when we get there - I think I just like doing to so I feel like I have some control) to make sure I don't forget what attractions we want to hit & the order so I am not backtracking, etc.
I create a tab with my PS info.
Then I have my week itinerary on one page so I can always have a quick look at the full week (the one you did at work today).
So, there are some more ideas to keep you busy!! I won't tell your boss!

Actually, there is a great Excel sheet out there on the net that I use that has prices, times, tip calcs, all of the restaurants, how long until you can call for the PS, etc...

I'm going to put the link here. I guess this is ok, but if not, admin can remove it. I'm not real sure about what is ok to link to and what is not...

You did say this was your "honeymoon" trip didn't you? I think you may be needing a little more time for relaxing!

Every time I think I have our itenerary figured out something new comes up and I am back to the drawing board again. I'm sure you can find something else to plan!

Have fun,
Lori

P.S: I have even broke a spread sheet down in to 15 minute intervals to have something to plan. Of course we never stick with it, I just do it to pass time between trips!
