Is it hard to get the FP+ you want if off-site?

We've only had one trip since it changed over to FP+ and we did a split stay starting with the Dolphin - so we could set our FP+ at 60 days. We are considering doing off-site for our next trip especially as I look at prices and realize how much they've all gone up! We aren't big table service people so not getting those reservations easily is not a big deal. My concern is getting the FP+ we want. So - for those of you who have done it - is it hard to get the FP+ you want doing it 30 days ahead or less?

Or you could make an on site room only reservation as well as an off site reservation. Book your fast passes up to 74 days in advance. Cancel your on site reservation less than 30 days out and still keep your fast passes. You won't be charged any cancellation fees and won't be charged for the magic bands they will send you.

We made a reservation for 4 people instead of 2, and got 2 extra magic bands that were used in the park for an additional 3 same day fast passes each.

If you don't want to bend the rules then just realize at prime times like spring break and so forth you may not get your exact times you want, but availability for most rides should be good at the 30 day mark.

I stayed offsite a few weeks ago and got most of the FP that I wanted; Toy Story Mania, M&G with Cinderella, Peter Pan, M&G with talking Mickey. The only one I never got that I tried for was Mine Train but somehow I was able to get in during the Magic Hours (no clue how that happened) and stood in line since the crowd was low.

Not sure if saving $13 on a Magic Band is at the top of my list for a vacation. Not teaching my children how to find loopholes.

Paid $51 gladly for our MBs for convienence of not having to get out cards each time for a FP or photo.

March break last year was no problem. 7DMT was a bit later in the day, but that changed how we toured MK that day; made a later than usual start, which was actually nice. I think the only one that was impossible to get was the Elsa Meet and Greet, but it was a hard get at 60 days too and not really interesting to our teenagers.

Aside that your strategy is using loopholes to cheat the system and hurts the other guests - even that won't get you FP+ 74 days in advance. Onsite only gets them 60 days in advance.

To OP - we have no real issues.
- 7DMT will likely be gone but we have picked that up days and even hours before. If not get there at rope drop or get in line at the end of the day, all those in line will ride.
- A&E Meet and Greet were hard, seems to be getting much easier right up until day of unless you have a big group.
- TSMM has been difficult and usually nothing closer you get but hopefully the new track will open sooner than later and help.

I learned that strategy on this site, and you can book fast passes up to 74 days out if you have a 14 day reservation; 60 + the length of your stay (max 14).

Your post implied that someone could get on at 74 days in advance of trip and start booking. You may get on 60 days in advance of your trip and book for your trip. Most people want to know when is the earliest day they can begin booking.

And just because someone says do something doesn't mean it's right. I know a way to book FP+ 60 days out for a trip when I don't even have one booked. Did it last month to see if still works and it does (I cancelled all the FP+). I have never used the loophole, never seen anyone talking about it here and would never share it. I also think falsely booking a room in order to cancel and then keep the MagicBands (that are paid for our out of your hotel rate by your hotel) is ............... wrong. My hope is in the future they will charge folks who do that for the MagicBands they received.

Because you read about it on the Dis, still doesn't make it right. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I basically stole MBs and extra FPs, but that's just me. You don't seem to have any support for your plan here if you haven't noticed.

Thanks for the input! We have no interest in A&E but TSMM and 7DMT are essentials. We may not be able to rope drop TSMM depending on how our plans end up.

As for booking a room and then cancelling, I've heard of people doing it but it's not my style if I have no plan to keep the reservation.

We're in the same boat. Two previous trips, but never used the FP+. I'm essentially banking on early ADR's at MK, HS, and EP so we can run over to 7DMT, TSMM and Frozen (Assuming it's open). Then I'll just do my best to FP+ the rest.

I booked one night on site (which I did pay for) to get the rolling 60 days and didn't have trouble getting anything but A&E and the Mine Train.

I was constantly messing around up until the week before and has no real trouble so I don't know if I'd bother on future trips.

That's a good idea but we eat breakfast in our room to save money. We've used FP+ before, but were on-site then. 7 Dwarfs had opened fairly recently and I wasn't able to get the exact time I wanted - but there were lots of times available. BUT - that was at 60 days. We're considering the first week of Oct, possibly going into the end of Sept. So, I'd presume moderate crowds.

So Anna and Elsa is STILL hard to get? Shoot. I was hoping all the fuss may have died down by the time we book our 30 day out FP in late summer.

Normally, we're right there with you on the saving money on breakfast front. I've currently got four breakfast ressies for our trip. I may just knock it down to two (one at MK so we can get on 7DMT and one at Akershus so we can get on the Frozen ride). TSM is cool and all, but I've never felt the ride is worth the hype/line.

Leave in two weeks (7 days offsite then today booked 2 nights onsite at end), just now decided to start getting FP+. Have only scheduled a couple days but got Illuminations, Test Track (w/Soarin' closed), Toy Story Mania and Wishes all for FOUR.
