Is it difficult to install a car seat in the Mears shuttle?

Our son will be 9 months old and I am bringing his infant seat for the plane (it will protect him from turbulence but he exceeds the weight and height limit). It's portable and will snap in his stroller to get through the airport. I don't know what to do next as far as transportation to the hotel. Should I just have him ride in the infant carrier. Are the carriers easy to install in the shuttle? Do they have car seats? Would it be better to get a town car? Do they have car seats? Thank you!!

Is this an infant seat like what you use at home or a Federally approved car seat? If it is a non Federally approved car seat you will not be able to use it on the plane.
As far as car seats in Mears or limo services, I cannot answer that question.

I would suggest using your own car seat. Most people install car seats incorrectly and the chances of getting it right with a seat you aren't familiar with is low.

If you infant seats says it is FAA approved I would bring that.

If you use a rental agencies seat you don't know the history of it, if they bring the right size seat, how to use it.

Play it safe and bring your own.

I believe I read another post from you, please forgive me if I am wrong. You were using your infant seat that he has outgrown on the plane because of turbulence, but did not want to use it with the car because technically he has outgrown it?

You could always bring his regular, full size convertible carseat onto the plane. Most (not all) are FAA approved, so it could be installed in the plane and then in the car. I'm traveling with an 8 month old in 2 weeks, so I definitely understand the headaches of lugging a full size carseat. Back in December, I purposely bought an infant seat with a higher weight and height limit just for our September trip. He thought I was bonkers, but now I'm really glad for it! In the past, we have brought the convertible seat for our dd. We used bungee cords to strap it to a luggage cart, then I strapped her into the seat. It was a makeshift stroller! I have also heard of people strapping (or wedging) their convertible carseats into their regular strollers. It is always so difficult at the airport to juggle luggage, carryons, strollers, carseats, children, etc. I can barely keep up with my kids at the grocery store!

Good luck,
Jennifer

I too would bring regular size car seat. I used this backpack to carry our carseat. It's so much more comfortable than the carseat bags as it sits snug against your body. Pacbac

Then I would look into a town car rather than Mears. It shouldn't be too much more expensive and so much more convenient. I'm not sure Mears has seat belts. It's been too long for me to remember. But with Mears you've got to wait in line for a shuttle and then that shuttle makes lots of stops at all sorts of resorts. With a baby I'd really appreciate having a town car driver waiting at baggage claim just for us! They will do a grocery stop for you also and you'll get to your hotel much faster. I would really price it out!

Thank you so much for all the great info! These boards are great and everyone is so helpful. Thank you again!
