I can't believe I missed your post on your twins birthdays!!! Not sure how that happened.

Well happy belated birthday to them!! I see by the photos on FB that they had a fun one. :goodvibes

Here is a little something for them:

So does anyone else get midway in the planning and start getting panicky about finances?? Are we going to have the package paid off, are we going to have money to get our flights, will I have money to book the fireworks cruise or buy the MVMCP tickets, will we have spending money?

The reason we've never taken a trip like this before is because with a large family, it can add up very quickly. We pretty much live paycheck to paycheck.....with some weeks being broke by noon on payday. I like being able to book the packages with all our meals covered (including snacks) and knowing everything is paid.....the problem is....things aren't falling into place as we had hoped. I should know not to count on money that we don't have in hand. We know we have an inheritance coming, at some point.....but it hinges on a house selling for it to finalize. I thought having a year for it to happen was plenty of time, but as we get close to the halfway point....I'm starting to think we won't see that before the trip comes. So now it's figuring out where to come up with extra money.

I'm just thinking out loud, but I would like to know if other people have panic attacks during the process of planning or am I just a nut case....... :lmao: :rolleyes1

I occassionally get a little tightness. But on our vacation years, I do what I can to make it easier. I brown bag to work. I can't remember the last time I bought a breakfast or lunch there. When I make meals, I like to make them cauldron sized. 1 dinner turns into 2 dinners, 2 lunches and a midnight snack. Also, I work 3 jobs. When I need to generate extra $$$, I call up 1 of my bosses and ask for hours. If I can get the hours in OT form... CHAAA CHINNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG...

And as you've read before, I save my lottery winners til I can cash them in, in bulk. If someone comes to me and says "You're just breaking even." I reply, Nope. I'm just setting my Disney money aside in a differnt manner.

And last, but not least, I keep a 5 gallon water jug in my house. If I walk in th house with any change on me, it goes right into the jug.

Don't worry. You're a good person and good things happen to good people.

I wish I could take on a job.....that would help immensely.....unfortunately, we couldn't afford daycare for the twins. We're hoping Tyler will find employment....he's been looking, but no luck yet. That would help us out too.

I do have a change jar too....we just rarely pay with cash....so it doesn't get fed very often...... :rotfl2:

Thank you for the compliment!! I WILL make this trip happen......we might have to give up eating, electricity & a roof....but I will make it happen!! :lmao:

Just assuring you that you are SOOOOOOO not alone. I keep thinking I need to go buy our APs to lock in the price because I know they are going up. But funds are tight right now. Argh. I always freak out around this time frame, but no (and hope) it will all come together in the end. :wizard:

That's good to know..... Hopefully we'll both find some financial relief soon!! :goodvibes

We can be lucky like BDL and win with lotto tickets? Maybe have some lemonade stand sales? Strike oil in the backyard? Find a sugar daddy. (teehee)

It will all come together. We must have faith in the financial gods.

:rotfl2: I've tried the lotto thing & just don't think I'm a lucky person.....lol If I lived on a busier street, maybe I'd look into the Lemonade Stand idea....unfortunately, I think my kids would just drink the profit.....strike oil??, hmmmmmm I wonder if the owner of the home would be the one that would benefit from that find or me as the tenant?? I know Mike wouldn't allow the sugar daddy thing....but a girl can dream right??? :cloud9::lmao:

We'll make it work.....when I want something....I try hard to make it happen!!

I just found your post and I am really enjoying it. Your kids are so cute - love the pictures of them in the snow!

My daughter and I are heading down to WDW from 12/20-29/12. I'm a bit nervous about the whole thing but, like you, have been planning since January. I'm sure I'm driving everyone around me nuts lol :) To top it off, it's a surprise for her so I can't even talk to her about it....UUGGGHHH!!! :)

It's awesome that you are going to WDW!! I know you'll have an awesome time! I'm going to go read some more before I ask any questions!

See you later :wave2:

Hello! Joining in popcorn::

We will also be at WDW this :santa:, Dec 20-27. Our 1st Christmas :santa: trip as well and we are super :yay:.

I think your itinerary looks great. We have quite a few of the same character meals picked out as you.

Hello :)

We are going at the same time as you - so excited!!

What resort are you staying at?

Jen

Laurie, every trip I panic that there will not be enough money or that something will happen. When we went in 2010 I ended up spending $600 on my brakes right before our trip. I thought we would never be able to go. THAT is just one example.

WELCOME!!! :wave2: How old is your daughter? You'll be there for Christmas.....I'd be a bit nervous about going during that time.....I'm not big on huge crowds, really hoping it will be low crowds when we're there. (but it is a dream of mine to be walking down Main Street on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day....so who knows...maybe one of these years).

I remember that Michele....that was a scary time for you!! I guess I wouldn't be as nervous if we hadn't had to cancel a trip last year.......We're further ahead on this one, having it booked & a chunk of it paid, so I WILL make it work.....just midway panic mode!!

I know and I understand. Just like we are in the midst of our planning and I Will have all of my money by next week but I am still in panic mode. I think it is our natures to panic.

I think so........yay for you & next week!!! :yay:

We got Derek's flight to Orlando tonight......I tell you, waiting this late to book it really showed in the prices.....I almost passed out to see the prices had gone up by $300 on most of the flights we were looking at!! :scared1: Luckily I found a Jet Blue flight for $300, still more than I had seen a month ago. Now to book a room & a one day ticket to the parks.....cause we're sending him out on Saturday night vs on Sunday. Paying for the day at the park was still cheaper then having him fly out on Sunday. He will check in for the Disney College Program first thing Monday morning (on the 11th).

I can't believe he'll be leaving on the 9th.....excited & sad!! (another reason I will make sure we go on this trip......I want to visit him in Florida)
