My children have the week after Easter off next year (beginning the Monday after Easter). Up until now we have always pulled the kids out of school end of April/beginning of May to avoid crowds. This year the crowds were still heavily (mainly south american visitors) which defeated the point and by next year we will have two in middle school which is tougher with catch up work. We love the weather in April and are thinking of planning our vacation to begin Easter sunday and last for 7 days. We usually sit by the pool all day and head to the emh parks in the evening (except AK day).

Is that a typically overcrowded type to visit? Crowd calendars have it listed as a heavy crowd week but they seem to be struggling with accuracy this year.

TIA

We have never been over Easter but we will be there Easter 2015. Our DS's marching band is performing and we will be coming down to see them march. We usually go in the summer which is crowded but I know they say Easter is really crowded. Oh well, a crowded day in Disney is better than a day at work!!

I was there for 8 days starting the Tuesday after Easter this year. It wasn't too bad. It was more crowded than I thought it would be, but still manageable.

Enjoy your trip!

That is Spring break for almost the whole country. We went once, we will NEVER step foot back on Disney property during that time. It was horribly crowded. We will stick to May, July, September or October!

September thru December is my hubbys busy season. Jan-march is too cool and afraid of summer break heat!

FWIW, we arrived on 3/17 one year and stayed for 7 days and only on our arrival day was cool enough to the point where we needed a sweatshirt. From my understanding, it was unseasonably cool that day as well. We had ample pool time the rest of the week. For me, I'd rather take my chances on March weather when crowds are lower than fight the spring break crowds.

Hi neighbor. We are in the same local district, and because of your post I realized we are off the week after Easter next year instead of before. We have gone over Easter before, including this year. The time we went after Easter it was less crowded. Still crowded, but noticeably less then the week before. The week before usually offers no discounts. The week after usually offers some, although the discounts are off rack rates that are holiday rates. I wouldn't want an Easter trip to be my only Disney trip, but as a veteran you can have a lot of fun even with it that busy. Donna

We will also be going the week after Easter 2015. We have been the 3rd week in July, the 1st week in December and the 1st week in June. I think the 2015 trip will be the busiest, most crowded. We don't really have a choice though. DD15 will be playing in the ESPN High School Softball tournament (called Disney High School Spring Training) with her team that week. The team participates every other year. From what I understand they have their games mid morning, then spend the rest of the day in the parks. Some of the parents hit EMHs before the games each day. Due to all the fund raising, it costs $350 per person for a 5 day hopper, 4 nights in an All Star, a $70 gift card for food and the tour bus ride down and back (12 hours each way). For that price, I will fight the crowds!

We were there over Easter and the week following this year, and it was busy but not unduly so, we thought. However, this year Easter was very late and so did not coincide very much with Spring Breakers. Next year, Easter is right in the wheelhouse of Spring Break, so I'd expect it to be very busy, indeed.

This will be our first Spring break also. We have been twice at Thanksgiving and New Years last year so this shouldn't be to much of a stress for the family. The girls are excited to get more pool time this trip.

Where is everyone learning that mid-April is spring break? I have selected Apr 12-20 as my vacation week for next year, and the crowd calendars look very favorable. There is a list here of the top 150 largest colleges in the nation's spring break dates, and none fall within the week after Easter. I see the Orange county K-12 system also has their break in March. I haven't found a good resource for looking at k-12 across the country, however.

It is our school districts spring break. Ours is always either the week before Easter or week after. My oldest DD is the first week of April,

That sounds promising. There is no other time on the school calendar where they get a full week off other than xmas. I guess we have a bit of time to decide if we brave the crowds or heat and rain of August in Orlando!

Are you in NJ as well? I dont want to stress the kids with catch up schoolwork now that they are older. Im so torn!

We are in the same township. I know what you mean about the catch up school work. I have one a junior in High School (MAST) and one in K, in the towns elementary school. We could take the November break and have a full week for the little guy, but MAST does not run by the same calendar, and only has the convention days off. I mostly stopped taking them out when the oldest got into high school, and when we did take them out before then we worked around NJ week.

We went this year for the week leading up to Easter (4/12 - 4/19) and it was crowded, but certainly manageable. MK was open until 1 am everyday (not EMH -- 1 am was the regular closing time) of the week and most days we visited another park mid-morning until early afternoon, went back to our townhouse for a break and then returned to MK about 8-9 pm and closed down the park. Crowds definitely thinned out after the fireworks and we had a great time!

Our Spring Break in 2015 will be the week after Easter (4/5 - 4/12) and we'll be there again with bells on! We have to get one last trip out of our APs before we take a break from WDW for awhile. :thumbsup2
