We are getting ready to start looking to buy points to stay at a DVC resort. Is it better to list the reservation request(dates of stay and resort) or just post points we need?

Thanks!

Although we refer to it as "renting points" you are really renting a reservation from a DVC member who will use his/her points to make that reservation for you. The DVC member will need to know the resort, room type (studio, 1BR, etc.) and the dates of stay because they will be the one calling to make the reservation. Anything else you need (Magical Express, Dining Plan) must be arranged by the member from whom you rent.

Be sure to read the "sticky" threads at the top of the Rent/Trade board before you post to that board so that you understand the posting rules (and thread maintenance rules) before you submit your post. You should start with the Read Me First thread and then read the threads on the Title Requirements and Posting rules.

Thanks Lisa for the information. I guess I am not sure how to post it, when I was looking at the other board I saw it listings both ways...specific dates as well as just point requests. I guess the best would be the dates and perferred resort.

Most who request points needed are DVC members who want another member to transfer points to them. Non-members can only rent reservations. As LisaS posted, the member needs to know what resort, dates and room size you need to determine if he/she can help you.

If you post which resort you want, a member with points at that resort can make a reservation for you at 11 months out up to 7 months out. At 7 months any member can try to get a reservation at any resort. Plus it kind of depends on when you are wanting to go. There are a lot of times or places that might be difficult to get if you want to go in the near future or during holiday times.
