I would be concered, because you never know which bugs are fatal to dogs (or feed on toxic plants). Maybe he just likes the way they move..

My dog will try to eat anything he finds on his body, which is why we now have to have him shaved every few weeks. He also loves glue. Anytime I use it, I have to make sure he can't get to it, because the second I turn my back, he'll try and eat it.

For such a beautiful dog, he really is disgusting!
