Is it appropriate for a 4th grade boy...

It wouldn't bother me because I hope (think) most 4th graders wouldn't "get it"
Maybe try to stear him from giving it to the most uptight family in the room and usually by 4th gr. you know who these families are.

Except we were new to the school last year and half the kids weren't in his class last year. I think I'll try to talk him out of the monkey ones. He said "But Mom, the girls LOVE monkeys this year!" He has NO IDEA what the alternate meaning is.He kept asking why I was laughing so hard. :lmao:

Heck I don't "get it."

I get it, and don't think I am uptight...BUT, I would not let my son hand them out, nor would I want my son or daughter to receive one. Just my .02.

I think it is funny, and I doubt the kids are going to get it. I am sure some parents might get offended though, just as I am sure some will get offended by the Power Ranger valentines my son is passing out.

I think it is fine. :goodvibes

My DS 11 asked me to buy his gf a box of chocolates. He said to be sure that it "wasn't" heart shaped! Uh, Okkkaaaaaaaay! :lmao:

Just had to bump this up b/c my 1st grader got that Valentine card from one of her friends yesterday.

I just saw it in her Valentine bag and got a good chuckle.... :rotfl2:

"I wanna be your spunky monkey, Valentine!" :lmao:

She loves Monkeys so this was one of her favorites. :teeth:

I think it's funny and I wouldn't be upset if Dd got one.
I agree there are always a few uptight parents who will be offended.

I KNOW my 4th grader wouldn't get it. I'm not even sure I get it.

As the mother of a fourth grade boy, I dread Valentine's Day for fear of something like that. I don't want to offend anyone so I'll be censoring the valentine's day cards my DS picks.
My niece is a few years younger. Her class was told by the teacher to write something about each classmate on their valentine's day card. My sister decided she had better "review" these cards before my niece took them to school.

I was rolling on the floor when she was telling me about some of the comments my niece wrote. I think my two favorites were: "You are my 3rd best friend" and "I like your mole." :rotfl2:

No, I don't think it's innapropriate @ all. Some people read too much into the Valentines card sayings. You buy a box of 24 or 32 cards etc. and you address them to all your classmates ...no harm intended. My DD is in 4th grade and she could have gotten one of those cards/or given one ....but to tell you the truth I didn't even read all of them.Someone has "way too much time" on their hands !!!!

::yes::

My 3rd grade DD would love it...she is monkey obsessed! Remember, they are still pretty literal at this age. A spunky monkey is a happy primate! hehe

My son gave out Simpson Valentines. They were the hit of the 3rd grade. One with Homer said "I'm with cupid". It was the biggest hit of all! :goodvibes

Totally fine. These are 4th graders for goodness sake. :goodvibes
