The title says it all...is it worth the 2 dining credits? I've heard so many people say how they love it, but I'm not sure. Reading the description, it doesn't sound like something that would really appeal to us, but I'm intrigued since it seems so widely beloved. I made a reservation, but I keep thinking we might enjoy 2 different dinners for those credits.

I have never ate there but the advice that was given to me was "it's a must do". I think that if you are already having doubts, and are not sure if you will enjoy it. It may be better for you to go somewhere where you know for sure that you will enjoy. But in saying that, if you happen to have some extra credits, why not try it? The reviews seem to be positive. You might really like it.

We love HDDR. I have been in the 80's when my children were school age, a few years ago with my oldest and my 2 Grandchildren (I loved that my son wanted to share that memory with his children) and last year with my youngest, his financee and her parents. He wanted to impress his soon to be family and this is what he chose.
We love the food, the singing and dancing, the corny jokes and the audience participation. I would go every trip, if it were up to me.
If it does not appeal to you, I would change my plans. We are all different. Go with your gut, not the reviews of strangers on the Internet.

What you wrote, I could have wrote...that's why we have never been.

But I agree with the last poster, you need to analyze your gut feeling and see if it is a good risk of credits for this trip. I think there are times we need to venture out and try it because it might be our thing and you wouldn't want the nay sayers to steal it away for you. But so far I haven't picked it because I am not into corny jokes and I have found others to experience, but someday I might just try it out!;)

I found it hokey, but my kids who were 7 and 9 LOVED it as did a bunch of 2-8th graders that went from our school. My girls are now 9 and just turned 12, we are going to do it again next month. With our family, we are able to stretch our counter service, so using the 2 credits isn't a huge deal for us. We prefer not to have a big meal every day anyhow.

This was one of our favorite outings on a 10 day trip. We enjoyed the hokey humor, and bbq suppa!

I'd say you should give it a try. We did it once years ago (there were 8 of us and the kids were young) and we all loved it and still talk about it. The food is good....nothing great but the show itself was a lot of fun...totally worth doing it at least once.

Now Mickey's Backyard BBQ...there are 2 credits we will never get back...food was blah, ran out of beer and they did not get more, mobs of kids around the characters so the interaction was not good and stressful just trying to keep an eye on the kids running around with a million other kids on the dance floor at the same time...not our idea of a fun time!:scared1:

I like the HDDR.. Its a great time...yes its corny but fun! I like the food...its simple fried chicken ribs and corn bread.....and the Strawberry shortcake we hadd when we were there was excellent. I have ressies for my April trip . I did the 5 oclock so that I can walk around afterwards then head over to the Chip n dale campfire sing along! a good time. Its perfect for an early arrival day or a non park day. Give it a try !

Our whole family loved it, DSs 10 and 7, laughed the entire time.

My mom and I went for the first time on our last trip and we loved it! We'll definitely do it again. I thought the food was good and the show was pretty funny, even though the jokes are corny!

Hoop-Dee-Doo has been a favorite of ours for 25 years. I'm not very familiar with the dining plans since we go OOP for everything so I can't comment on the 2 TS issue. Our last time there was about a year ago and it was every bit as good as ever. There have been a few recent negative posts about HDDR that seem out of sorts with that dinner show's reputaion. In the past it's always been plenty of good food and great entertainment.

we Hoop the first night of every trip. Our family still loves it. Yes, it is corny but it is a good family show. No inappropate language or actions. Can't wait until 12.17 to go again. You should try it once, if you don't care for it then at least you can say you went once and...... The thing about Disney dinig is that there is something for everyone.

We just went for the first time and really enjoyed it. I think it's worth doing once at least, kids I think especially would enjoy it.

Thanks for all the replies, this is the first chance I've had to get back on here and check. I'm still torn. We are giving the kids the trip for Christmas, so I think I will keep the res until then, and maybe show them some videos from YouTube to gauge their interest. If they seem into it, we'll keep it, if not, we'll cancel.

We did Hoop for the firs time two weeks ago. My 11 yr old DD loved it and wants to go back. We were all laughing and enjoyed the show. They really get the audience involved. It was a great EXPERIENCE. If I were going for the food I would be disappointed. Although the strawberry shortcake....oh my....sooooooo good!!!! To us the food was just okay. However, I am glad we did it and love the memories we made. :thumbsup2

We hated it. Rather than use credits, I paid cash almost 6 months in advance. (I was told the sooner you book, the better the table.) We had a terrible table, butting up to a wall directly in front of us. The kitchen door was directly to our right and the staff had many bussing buckets along the wall. Our veiw was very obstructed and the noise from the staff was distrubtive. (We paid for a cat. 1.) Hoop Dee Doo is a Hoop Dee Don't for us.

Just went in September. My GF and her DD 7. We really enjoyed it. Food was good and show was funny. My GF got called on stage to be a can can dancer. I think it's worth the two credits. We just paid our cheapest meal, Mama Melrose OOP.

That's my suggestion go to HDDR and pay for your meal at DHS since the options seems to be cheaper.

Also, our service at HDDR was great. They refilled our alcohol ASAP and cleared the table quickly.

i took my girlfriend there a couple of years ago. she was not excited about it one bit, but i made her go because i love it and it was important to me (it was her first disney trip).

her reaction: I snapped many shots of her smiling ear to ear playing a washboard and wooden spoon. she loved it.

the food is fun, finger food. the entertainment is cheesy and silly, and cute. i wouldn't miss it.
