my ds (4) is not keen on lous noises, so we have bought him some earplugs to use on dinosaur, melstrom and fantasmic/wishes if it gets too loud. is he likely to need them on HM. i don't want to be rumaging around for them once the ride has started

Congratulations!!! :cool1:

I am sure someone who has been on more recently than me can better abswer, but I don't remember this as being very loud. Anyone, feel free to correct me! :teeth:

No it's not loud, but it is dark. You might want to bring some little light up toy. Our kids liked playing with those. Definitely stay away from the Stitch ride and the 3D movies in Epcot and AK. They are very loud. The ones in MGM and MK are fine. I'd also rethink the Dino ride in AK. My son loves dinosaurs and was all excited to go on that ride. He saw a clip of it on WDW tv and chickened out. It was probably a good thing because the ride is very jerky.

There are a few "surprising" things. During the attic and graveyard scenes, some heads pop up from behind tombstones. There's some pretty shrill screams associated with those that may frighten him.

Other than that, it's generally a gently toned narrative (the tone of voice anyway), with some spooky music that's pretty light on the volume.

If you can have them at the ready, it may be worth it - just in case.

Last year when we went it was unbelievably loud. Made my kids cry. This time it wasn't loud at all. :confused3
Found the same to be true of the Pirates and Great Movie Ride. I think that pirates has especially been tamed down, but maybe it was some weird perception issue on my part?

The sound is piped into your individual carriage. You may have ended up with some malfunctioning speakers in some instances, and some functioning ones in other instances.

That's why I reccomended she just have the ear plugs ready in case. You never know what may or may not frighten a child, and things can malfunction. :)

Oh, that makes sense. Then I would second the earplugs. Hate to get there and get the loudest car!
