Is Goofy's Kitchen really that much more than Storytellers?

Goofy is like $20 bucks more than storytellers and food is alright but not worth the price. Your paying more for the characters.
All meals at both restaurants are now character meals. If you compare prices for the same meal on the same date, the prices are the same.

Darn, I could have sworn dinner was a character meal too. That’s why I skipped dinner there on my last trip. Thanks for the correction, I’ll remember next time.

😄
What’s amazing is they charge the same price for the dinner buffet and it’s not even characters. Well, at least according to the app they do. Honestly we did the Christmas dinner buffet which did have characters and it was awful. The breakfast sounds better!

The prices are the same at both locations. They appear differently because Goofy's you pay upfront, including tax and tip, whereas Storytellers, you pay at the table, so tax and tip are paid there, not main price. We prefer Storytellers over Goofy's. It is a little more sedate, and we like getting Mickey and Minnie.

I've done many breakfasts/brunches at Storytellers, and loved them. We also did Christmas dinner there the last few years and had excellent service and the food was great! Love getting the corn chowder.

Dinner at Storytellers is not a character meal.
Correct. But i will say that we had dinner there with our family in October and characters came out for a bit. We have always done brunch at storytellers when we wanted characters. It was a nice surprise for the families that day.

That’s interesting. It says on the app characters won’t appear during dinner. But that’s great you guys had pixie dust on your trip!!!! I wonder how often that happens.

The characters were awesome when we went on Christmas Day. I agree about Mickey.... I wish he’d go back to Goofy’s permanently.

Adorable pic!

Storyteller's breakfast food is much better than Goofy's Kitchen breakfast in my opinion. We pretty much always go to Storyteller's at least once. Goofy's Kitchen we probably won't go back unless the kids really want to see the specific characters there, but they haven't asked to go back. Storyteller's is probably the one Disney character breakfast that I felt that the food was "good", rather then just whatever. For comparison, I've been to Goofy's Kitchen, Ariels' Grotto when it still existed, Plaza Inn at DLR. Also several at Disney World (Chef Mickey's, CRT, Akershus, some other ones I can't remember). Storyteller's breakfast is the best food out of all of them IMO.

He has never been at Goofy's. He was at Surf's Up the first few years, but hasn't been at Goofy's.
Mickey was out front for photos on both our December 2017 and December 2018 trips. No idea about 2019 since we went back to Disney World instead.

He was at Goofy’s in June for his bday. That’s when we went for the first time. It was awesome.
Ahhh, I got a clarification, he has been there on occasion for dinner as Chef Mickey replacing Goofy. Not sure if he still is, but good to know he sometimes is!

I had no idea he wasn't there anymore. He was when we went way back when (2008)... good to know while we are thinking of a character dining option again this go 'round.

Goofy's is indeed substantially higher than Storry Tellers, but there are usually around 7 characters at Goofy's with 4-5 at Story Tellers. At Minnie's breakfast at Plaza Inn, the prices are even lower, no gratuity and many more characters, usually including some rare ones, our most recent trip, we had:
  • Fairy God Mother (had a great chat about Boarding groups for Rise)
  • Tigger
  • Captain Hook
  • Eyeore
  • Gideon
  • Chip
  • Dale
  • Pluto
  • Winnie the Pooh
  • Peter Pan
  • Minnie
I am forgetting at least two others, we were more focused on getting boarding passes for Rise than taking pictures though....lol worked great, as we went on a Saturday and had a pre park opening reservation, avoiding the mess of people waiting to get in.

Price is about $36 with tax for Adults, less for Children and the food has improved greatly, as they added some new options.l, well new to us like bowls, sausage corn dogs, etc.

Which would you do Storytellers or Goofy's for breakfast? I want to include one character meal for my 4 year old. I can't imagine the food would be greatly differing between the two.

Storyteller's food is much better than Goofy's IMO, but for a 4 year old it doesn't really matter. I would just go based on whichever character you think the kiddo would like.
