Is going to be a crazy december

I have reservations at hard rock from dec. 18 through the 24th and have been watching the board and website carefully. As of know, there is NO onsite hotel availability for any location and park hours have been extended by an extra two hours a day from when they were originally posted in late September.

There is some availablitly onsite, but it seems to be pretty sparse. I wound up taking HRH for the 20th for one night for about $20 a night more than RPH because the only night I could get there was the 22nd, and it wasn't a good choice for me. I was offered PBH for about $300 for a couple of different nights.

I've been hoping the rates might come down a little, but I think it may be a wasted hope (mine is $245 for 4 adults - AAA).

I'm starting to wonder whether it's going to be really crowded. Thank goodness for FOTL!

I'll be there beginning the 19th. Part of the reason I chose those dates are the extended park hours. I love them!

WWoHP is so pretty after dark so that's great. Actually all of it is probably nice after dark but we've only been lucky enough to see IOA that late.

checking in on the 26th and departing on the 29th. Currently booked at RPR, just looked at HRH and there's no availability. Forget CL, nothing anywhere for 3 people (2 adults and a teen)

Personally....I LOVE the parks and CityWalk after dark. It's a completely different feeling which is why I love HHN so much. Riding the coasters after dark is a do not miss experience!

Priceline is still showing some availablity for that week (depending on the dates needed). Hard Rock is coming up at $249 and PBH is $274. Oddly enough, RPH is at $319 (up $100 from last week).

You can pick your room (one king or two queens, garden view, bay view, etc.), but the price varies. The rates can be canceled with no fees with certain restrictions.

Yikes - no rooms are showing up on the Loews website for our dates. Anyone know what their policy is regarding booking - do they deliberately overbook, deliberately leave some rooms available, or try to book for exactly what they have?

We've stayed at Disney hotels when they've been all sold out and it's been fine in the parks, so I've learned there's not necessarily a correlation there between the on-site hotels being sold out and the parks being really busy. I'm hoping the same is true for Universal!!

Well there's only 3 on-site hotels at Universal vs. the dozen+ at Disney so I figure even if they're all filled up, it won't make as huge a difference. But the parks may be really busy depending on what your dates are.
