Is getting a fast pass for Radiator Springs still crazy?

They were gone fairly fast today. Got a 430pm at 10am.

Did you have to line up for that Fastpass or could you just walk up to the machine and get the Fastpass? Last time my family went the went straight to the Fastpass queue at rope drop and waited almost half an hour just for Fastpasses! (That was 2 years ago)

Was there this last Friday, at 9.15am, I could have gotten a fast past for 12.30ish, but wanted later, I waited 15min, till it got to 1.30pm, there was a steady stream of people but it wasn't crazy.
