Yes from all the threads on this topic it looks like it is spring, although other have reported that they were lucky and got free internet.

Oh, darn! Does anyone know if we have 2 or 3 laptops (DS21 & DD19 want to bring their laptops too!), we'll have to pay 9.99 per 24 hours for each one of us? THat is NOT going to happen! their laptops will stay home! Debbie

Just make sure you sign up through the router first, not through an individual lap top. Then have everyone join the network you create. We made that mistake at a different hotel once, and learned the hard way. Lucky some was work expense that time.

Many routers have a "MAC address clone" feature. This allows the router to have the same MAC address as your primary laptop. Often, this is necessary at various hotels in order to get the router to work.

I have not used wireless router on this trip yet... but I will be soon. Our girls have joined us, and they each have a laptop.

Let me know how that works! I am a bit computer illiterate--We had the geek squad set up our wireless router at home. (we have 4 laptops.) Do I need to do something at home before we leave? My kids will be coming from college, so we would set it up when they meet us in WDW. WIll that work okay? Thanks Debbie

Sorry for the late response.

We ended up not using the travel router on the January trip... nor did we use it last week either. Sorry that I do not have a recent report. Instead of setting up the router, I used my wireless Sprint aircard on my personal laptop... and I did not pay for internet access for the kids. If they needed the internet, I let them use my laptop temporarily.

I did use the travel router a while back... and it worked great. The model that I own is the Linksys WTR54GS Wireless Travel Router... but availability seems tight right now... maybe they are about to introduce a newer model.

I would suggest setting up some of the security features so that neighbors do not access your wireless connection... and hence have potential direct access to your computers.

As soon as the internet access is free (coming soon)... then I will set up the wireless router in the room so that everyone can share the connection.

I'll let you all know how we make out with that. For pete's sake - do they really need to nit pick with the $9.99 charge? One shouldn't say one thing and do another - free access in Spring means free access in Spring. Let them pick up the tab.

What makes you think "they" would be picking up the tab, even of they credit the amount to your account? The tab will be picked up by "DVC Resort Operations" and added to everyones dues. They are certainly under no obligation to credit it back. The last "official" communication said to look in the Summer edition of Disney Files for an update on Free Internet.

Nothing is ever really free for DVC Resorts, the cost will show up somewhere.

All perks are subject to change without notice. In fact, free internet could even be discontinued before it ever starts.

Sooooo, I guess the internet is still not free as of today. Too bad since it IS SPRING!!

I'm leaving for BWV in 2 days!! I guess if I really need it during my trip, I'll skip dessert one night and pay the $10 for the day.

Well, August is definitely in the summer, so I hope the "systems enhancements" are completed by then since it's not done now!!

Remember of course, that the cost is a lot lower than the retail price. Assuming they have recouped their equipment costs by now, the actual internet service likely costs the resort pennies per room.
