Dh and I are planning whether or not we should spend the bucks staying on site with our family of 6. The biggest perk would be the FOTL pass, but I'm wondering if it's a real perk in July when there'll already be a kajillion people in the express line. :confused3

Well, there are only so many rooms. I'd think the rate of guests who have express to those who don't would be much worse the lower the crowds are, not the other way around.

Yes, because for every kajillion in the express line, there are 10 bazillion in the regular line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Express wait times are still shorter than regular line, significantly)

Besides, the onsite hotels are close to the parks, so during the middle of the day, you can always go back and relax in the pool.

Very true :thumbsup2

I was at both parks in July of 2009. Since I was staying in Daytona, I opted for the now extinct VIP pass which was an unlimited express pass. I never regretted the expense because we never had to wait more than a few minutes for any ride, and we were there to open and close the place.

Based upon our experience last July, yes, it's worth it. Standby lines for the headliners were 45-60 minute waits. With FOTL, we pretty much walked on to everything.

We were there last July and did not have Express passes. We got there when the parks opened and hit the busiest rides first(Simpsons in US and SpiderMan in IOA) so we didn't have a line. In US, we then hit the "rides" that did not have a single rider line, like Shrek, Jaws, ET, etc. We did single rider on MIB and Mummy and rode over and over in a very short time. Spider Man has a single rider line too, and I believe the log flume ride and Jurassic Park do as well. Those saved us a lot of time. We went back to our hotel in the middle of the day several times and then came back later in the evening when it was cooler.

We're going back this year and plan to use Priceline to get another cheap hotel deal(we got $30/nt at Hyatt Place across the street last year) Saving $170/nt is worth some waiting in line to me, but maybe that is just me.:confused3

We've never stayed in July but have been there between Christmas and New Years and the FOTL with the onsite hotel is well worth it.:thumbsup2
