Is Fantasmic scary?

I remember it being rather intense, so DD has not seen it yet. (She is almost 4.) We might consider it this trip, it has been a while since we have seen it.

It depends on the kids. I know it would of scared her when she was 2 or 3 years old. The 5 year old might be ok.

It depends on what scares them. Are they scared of loud noises or fireworks? How about the Disney villians? Scared of the dark? Guns, snakes, fire? The show IS intense, especially during Mickey's nightmares, but has lots of characters and a happy ending.

I think the key is preparation - let them know ahead of time that there might be some "scary" things, but let them know it will all be O. K. in the end.

I agree that it all depends on the child.

I guess Fantasmic could be a little intense...but I saw it with a 5yr old, 2 4yr olds and a 3 yr old, there was something in it that everyone likes.

There is a dragon in it....when I was there last, Hollywood and Vine had a huge chocolate version...it was sooooo cool. That was last August, though.

Maybe you could show your kids pictures of parts of the show ahead of time.

If I remember correctly, though, all the princesses and tons of characters are in the last part of the show. It really is GREAT!

I've seen parents have to leave with little ones during the villians sequences.

My ds has LOVED Fantasmic since he was 2.5yrs old! We saw it 2x that trip, and again 2x when he was 4. he just LOVES it. But I know friends who have children that were terrified. We have always sat near the rear (so no water spray) and I think maybe it also minimizes the really LARGE effects a bit for children. It's not like it's coming right AT them. Now for comparison, my son also loved the movie, Snow White, but found the ride anything but enjoyable. he didn't cry/scream....but he in no way wanted to ride again.

My little girl was 2 1/2 yrs old and she got spooked by the Peter Pan ride at the MK but she sat through the entire show. It can be intense for some kids with all the fireworks and all but we sat way in the back offcenter which might've helped.

You never know. On our first trip the kids were 2, 4 and 5. 2 year old ds wasn't afraid of anything, 4 year old dd was petrified of SNow WHite Ride. I wasn't sure how Fantasmic would go over and told DH one of us might have to take her back to the hotel if she freaked out. She loved it. TO be honest I never saw any of the little kids get really upset at Fantasmic.

We took my nephew when he was five. He kept on saying he didn't want to see it, but we did get him to go, and he loved it.

That being said, he was a bit scared. I purchased one of those Mickey lights for him, and I told him it was a magic light, and if he got scared, to turn it on, and Mickey would help him be braver. The light did the trick, and he did hold it up a couple of times, but over all he loved the show, and it's one of the favorite things he did on that trip.

I guess it really depends on the kids, and you know your kids the best.

Fantasmic is a great show and not really scary at all. My three girls love it and my youngest daughter is 4 now. There is a big dragon that comes out near the end, but Mickey makes him go away! It really is a show that is not to be missed if you are visiting MGM!

I remember my parents took me to the Disneyland one when i was about 5 years old and i was terrified of it. But i think it depends on the child. Because when i was 5 i was scared of everything hehe but i guess if their ok with the movies maybe they will be fine with the real live version. I agree with showing them pictures of some parts to prepare them.

Our almost 4 yr old was scared in several places, but he sat on my lap and I whispered positive things about the scenes in his ear and he was OK, though quite wide-eyed during most of the show! 7 & 9 yr olds loved it

My 51 year old sister found Fantasmic to be disturbing. So I guess you need to judge how people in your group react to darker parts of things. I don't think it's any scarier than any disney movie when the villian shows up and does bad things.
