Is Double Tree really within walking distance to Universal/IOA

My family is considering a short trip to Universal/IOA this summer. We are considering the Double Tree Inn. Is it really close enough to walk to Universal/IOA? I have an 8 and 7 year old. We are also considering the Holiday Inn Express. Has anyone stayed at either hotel? Thanks!

Yes it is within walking distance! I would guess its about 10 min to City Walk.

It is right on the other side of the Kirkham??? at the Major light. You cross at the light and walk along the side walk right through the entrance area to the park. The entrance area is a long walk but it is even if you drive or take a shuttle.

About 10-20 minutes if you have to wait at lights etc.

Holiday inn is tucked right behind the doubletree so it is the same situation.

We are at the doubletree and it is about 10 to 15 minutes to get to city walk. You cross 1 major intercection and then have to cross traffic again. Doubletree has a free shuttle that runs at certain times. But it is only 5 dollars fir a taxi each wayand is well worth it. Only downside to taxi is if you wait till park closes it may take 30 to 45 minutes to get one back. We did this the 1st time we went over after that we left about 30 or 45 minutes before the park closed and got a taxi right away

Thank you everyone for your help. We vacation at WDW at least once or twice a year, but we have never been to Universal. It makes me nervous that I am making the wrong decisions in my planning.

We have stayed at doubletree several times when our boys was younger and we walked alot and like others mentioned its a 10 minute walk and when our boys got tired we took a taxi back and it was only $5.00 but watch out for some of the cab drivers cause they will try to charge you double
