Is DLH *Really* That Much Further Away Than Ca Grand? (& a Monorail Question)

I've read a couple posts now that say that the DLH is actually just as far away to walk as it would be if we stayed at a GN hotel. :confused3 Is that true?

One of the biggest benefits to us for even looking at staying at DLH or CG is that we have 2 small DDs & want to be able to walk back to the hotel mid-day, take a nap, relax, recharge & then hit the park again. I really didn't want to take a big chunk out of our day just walking back & forth, especially since we're shelling out hundreds of extra dollars to be *onsite*, kwim? :confused3

So I'm wondering if anyone can actually put into relative terms, how far that walk thru DD is to get to the DLH? Is it like 10 min, or are we talking 30 min? How does it compare to the walk to Ca Grand?

Also, I've heard conflicting info about the monorail running directly to DLH. Some say it does run to the hotel & it drops you off in Tomorrowland. Others say it no longer does & it only runs to DD. :confused3 (Not to mention, I don't even know if it's working or not.) We are planning on a visit the last week in June & I'm concerned whether it would be a deal breaker for us to decide whether to book at DLH or CG because of it.

TIA for any input, :flower3:

Yes it is true. If you want it precise, you can get it precise. Check the links below.

the DLH was not too terribly far for us when we stayed there last christmas. the monorail was a life saver though in my opinion, after a long day of walking in the parks, my feet were killing me and i was carrying my 3 y/o. while the station isn't "right" at the hotel, it is not far at all, i think there are some pictures/maps posted somewhere that could show you.

i don't think you can go wrong either way.

we are staying at the PP in May....I'm concerned that might be "too" far for us, but we wanted to stay onsite and save a little bit of cash so we opted for that hotel instead.

I have stayed at both the DLH and GCH. With your young kids I think you will enjoy the DLH. Yes, you do have to walk through DTD to get to the Esplanade and main gates, but it's about a 10 minute walk. The monorail will take you to less than 50 steps from the Sierra Tower at the DLH, so it is very convenient to take the monorail out of hte park in the afternoon for naps.

The GCH is closer to DCA obviously, but if your room is on the far side of the resort, your walk to DTD to get to the Esplanade (for DL entry) can be almost as long as the walk from the DLH.

HTH!

Wow! :cool1: Thank you HydroGuy, that link w/the pedometer count in actual steps to each hotel was amazing!

It actually made me reconsider about staying at the BWPPI because it was so much closer (and I assumed cheaper)! :rotfl2: But then when I did a quick Expedia check, it looks like I'm still w/in $230 for my 3-day DL stay (plus side excursion to San Diego) if we splurge & stay at DLH. So for the kids & for the ambience I think we'll still go w/DLH, even if it means an extra 800 steps or so. :rotfl2:

Thank you everyone else who helped w/your input too. I'm really hoping the monorail is open & working when we get there!!

Yes, there are good neighbor hotels that are closer!! But if you can afford it, go for it!!
