Are they still doing that annoying put your finger in the machine thing to enter the parks? Are they that hard up for money that it really matters who is using the ticket as long as it is paid for. half the time my dd's finger wouldn't register. AND IT HOLDS UP THE LINE. aNYONE ELSE ANNOYED BY THIS?

On our last trip - June 2006 - they never did it to us once.. but we had resort room keys with the tickets on them. (Not sure if that matters)

I've heard they're doing a different kind of finger-print scan that's much more reliable. Hopefully someone else can chime in on that..

Example: an 8-day MYW ticket.

Day 1 thru 4 cost about $50 each (or so)
Day 5 thru 8 cost about $5 each (if that much).

If they did not require the finger scan (or other ID) then what would stop guests from "sharing tickets" (one family leaves on day 4, next family starts with same tix for next 4 days (@ $5 per day or less).

The "extra days" costing so litte are an incentive for ONE family to stay longer at WDW.

That's logical enough for me.

When I went in March 2006 we still had to do the annoying finger scan thing, as well as in June 2005 but if they quit doing that, that would be wonderful!!!!! I mean the bag check holds up lines enough then you hafta wait for the finger scan after that!

I was there in May, Oct, Dec and again for a day last month. They have gone to a 'one finger' scan now rather than that 'peace sign' they were using. I didn't see any hold ups other than people not being able to figure out how to put one finger in the finger holder!!! I have no issue with it whatsoever. Way too many people out there trying to have multiples using the same pass.
I did see one family, trying to enter AK. They could not get their passes to work. They were quite huffy about it. The CM asked them for some IDs...well, turns out they couldn't show any!! I wonder why. Off they went, muttering away about the stupid pass system WDW is using now!! I would bet my life on the fact that they were trying to use someone else's passes.

That is the way they did it for many years and didn't go bankrupt. Like i said who cares who uses the tickets as long as they were paid for the amount of days to be used. I think disney can afford it if 2 different people use the same ticket. They always have. Well sorry for the crankyness i just hate all the time wasted.:cutie:

I get anoyed by many things at WDW, but the finger scan isn't one of them. It works for me almost all the time. The real hold-up at the turnstyles are the people who don't even bother to fish out their pass before they get there. Then somehow they don't know where they are supposed to insert it.

Actually its not the way they did it for many years. It was only with the advent of the Magic Your Way tickets that days were deeply discounted the longer you stay. Personally I don't think the scanners take that much time anymore. I don't mind Disney protecting themselves from cheaters

Disney's parks, Disney's rules. Life changes. Only constants are death and taxes. Those tickets were never transferrable...it said so on the reverse of the passes...they are non-transferrable. So, people abused it, Disney changed the rules. Again, Disney's parks, Disney's rules.

I don't mind the finger scan, or the bag check. The bag check is for security, and I'm glad they're doing as much as they can to keep the parks safe. As far as finger scans, and people being annoyed, or not being admitted, it's Disney's policy. It only takes a few seconds, and it's much easier then the old finger scan. I think it's good they have a way to keep track of people not using other's tickets.

It is a pain, but I don't blame Disney. I blame the people who think it is ok to cheat the system in order to save money. There was just a thread the other day on how people have found a way to purchase a 1 day ticket and then have it upgraded so someone else can use it:sad2: . And recently Disney has changed the dining plan so it can tell a child's credit from an adults, because people were abusing that system too. It wouldn't suprise me if they start cheking ids on the resort busses to deter people from having extra guests in their rooms. Unfortunately the rest of us pay with lost time for those who think they do not have to follow the rules.

We were there in May 2006 and they used the finger scan. I don't mind it at all. I would rather spend a few extra minutes for them to scan fingers than to have people being dishonest and getting in with someone else's tickets.

........i just hate all the time wasted.:cutie:
Actually, takes less time than this post took to type. :confused3

And I am all for justified corporate profits and protection of those profits. BTW, if the scan bothers you that much, head a bit north to USF/IoA, they just want your picture.

I agree. I have never had one problem using the scanner system. I put my finger in, it beeps, the CM says have a great day, and I walk into the park.

Very easy and efficient, and protects against thieves and people cheating the ticket system. :)

They switched over from the two finger scanner to the one finger scanner. The newer scanners are much easier than the original ones.

It takes about .5 seconds.

I just spent 6 months there, and it never gave me nor anyone I was with any problems. I never heard any guests complain about them.

Really, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

It doesn't matter if Disney can afford if 2 people use the same ticket. Imagine if that got out and eveyrone started doing that. It's still stealing. The park needs money to operate and add new attractions, not to mention maintain it to Disney standards.

I hang my head in shame. I guess my annoyance with the system is not justified. :sad2:

We did not have to use it at MGM or at the P&P Party last week. However, we have used it at Disney and the "other" park before. I don't think that it wastes too much time. It just takes a few seconds.

The main cause of the lines backing up is people at the gate harrassing the poor CMs about why they need to do this and saying they think it's stupid (yes, I've seen this several times). Some people always feel the need to ask the CMs at the gates about that and about the parade, or how to get to a certain ride, etc...This is way more aggrevating to me. Maps were created for a reason

Me too :thumbsup2 Have a great trip....from one Long Islander to another :cool1:
