Is Disney responsible?

This is a follow up of sorts to another thread I started.

My ATM/Debit card was hacked, blah blah blah - I got everything straightened out. However, one major thing that upsets me:

I called Disney on Friday, and put down a $250 deposit. It turns out, Disney swiped my card twice and charged it $500. As always, no apology from Disney.

Anyways, it's not a huge deal as the money was in my checking account. What would happen if they ended up overdrawing my account and I bounced checks because of that? Would that be Disney's responsibility to fix and pay for?

I swear, you know how companies have mottos or motivational posters in their offices - Disney has a saying on the wall of their corporate offices and CRO that reads "Never accept responsibility."

I don't know if they would be held responsible or not, but this is the reason I NEVER use a debit card for making hotel, airline or rental car reservations. Oftentimes, they will "hold" a certain amount over the amount you putting down, and you may not be aware of it.

I stick with my credit card for such things.

I also never use by debit card for such things. it is to easy for someone to make a mistake and your money could be gone at the blink of an eye. I think if you pressured Disney about all the costs they would probably pay but I'm sure it would take an awful lot of pressuring.

This is one of those things where modern conveniences have some risk. Cash and checks can be a pain, but a lot easier to control. I've heard of some cases where car rental agencies max out a credit card until the car is returned.

My Visa Debit/ATM card is the only "charge" card I have. Got rid of the rest.

When we stayed at the Caribe Royale years ago in Orlando they *put on hold* on an amount WAY over what the actual charge for the stay would be ON MY CREDIT CARD! I had to really argue with a manager on that one. She told me that we might order tons of movies or room service, etc (room charges) and they had to cover themselves by putting a certain amount on hold. If it was a small amount, okay. But it was not. It is more difficult to have the hold removed than to actually pay for something and have the charges reversed.

I learned to ask about this when checking into other hotels to avoid it BEFORE they ever take an imprint of my card.

If I buy something, I expect to pay for it. Don't hold a certain amount of my good credit out there in limbo because you *think* I might *use* it!!
