Is Disney Quest Really worth going to?

Dh and I had Premium annual passes so DQ was included in the price. We went one night and half of the attractions were closed/broken and we only did 3 things while we were there. We didn't even get to make our own rollercoaster ..IT WAS CLOSED! Had I "paid" to get in that night I would have been so pi$%@d ! lol We will probably never go back just because the experience was soo bad and time consuming. This experience may not be the norm but I was very unhappy. I'm interested in others reviews as well. Wonder if I am the only one who this has happened to.

Yes you should go .... If your into games you will love it. I've benn there plenty of times and never had any trouble with any games. But the lines can get long, but your in Disney what do you expect? But a few things you can do.

1. Build your own rollercoaster but flips, corkscrews, speed bursts, even jumps, and other creative stuff. And if your not into flips you can make it with no flips or anything. Then once you build it you get your card and go into another line the someone tells you what door to wait at. So once your "inside" you get into this yellow ..... simulator??? you sit down get strapped in and theres a big screen in front of you and iy does your ride. It is so cool HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

2. Pirates of The Caribbean - Your in a ship and one person steers and several people shoot cannon balls at other pirate ships. Its really cool the screen around you is really big so it looks really cool.

Also I suggest not doing the rapids game. It's kind of boring but you paddle and you go down stream. I know I don't make it sound good ... But I'm not a fan.

3. Theres this virtual reality game where one person steers well flies a ship and the others shoot at other aliens. The objective is to pick up your guys before time runs out. It's really fun!

4. Theres more other cool games but I will eb writing forever.

5. And as if that isn't enough there is two floors of arcade games. New arcade games and even the classic ones. You can spend hours on the arcade games alone.

See these are some reasons why you should go to Disney quest i highly recommend it. I don't miss it on every trip I go to. IT'S A LOT OF FUN!

Our family of 6 went there on our last visit - we loved it! We actually spent waaay longer there than we had planned. The kids were two teenagers and two 7 or 8 year olds and there was plenty to hold all of our interests.

Question about the roller coaster builder....once it's built, how many can ride the simulator?

We went in late May this year. We paid extra to get in. Never again!! Alot of things were broken and it was during a busy time and it was very crowded, so we could'nt get on alot of things and some games cost extra. I thought this was a rip off, since you pay to get in. I will not go again. It may be worth your while if you go off season and the crowds or lower or if it is included in your ticket.

This is Diskim's Husband (whoever thought I would refer to my wife like that?). Anyway, we had the length of stay ultimate pass when we stayed at the Poly, so one night when we all broke up in differant directions, I took my 8 yr old daughter to DQ. We got there around 6 which was probably our first mistake, and it was also summer, so it was very crowded. The layout was overwhelming. We waited in line for the create your rollercoaster and found out my daughter wouldn't be able to do it (I did not see the posted height restriction, who knew a simulator would have one, she is tall enough for everything else?!) We did do a neat VR space rescue mission, but the other VR items with the headsets were skeevy. The small video panels in the eye holes were "slimed" either from their cleaning fluid (which they make a cursory swipe after every ride) or what my mind decided was exhailation of a thousand sweaty vacationers.
I would never want to have a night like that again, but I would go back if I 1) went in off-peak season, 2) went early in the day.

My DH, DS-11, and DS6 went last year during March spring break. We did pay extra as DS-11 wanted that for his B-day present. They got there about 1pm and closed the place down. (I actually started to worry about them). They had a blast and can't wait to go back this year. We'll have UPH's this time so my DD-5 will get to go and check it out too !!

for the arcade games, do you have to pay extra? (and if so, do they take coins or tokens?)

My husband and brother think it's worth it! I had no desire to go, so we went out shopping and left them behind, and we still had to drag them kicking and screaming out!

DH says it's awesome, told me all about the cool rides including the rollercoaster one and some others... We went Mid-May, and on a Saturday morning, and they didn't complain about it being packed.

Really depends on whether or not you're video game buffs.

Garretts92,
Two people can ride the cyber roller coaster at one time, but if there are more in your party, the CM's will let the others ride the same simulation again. Last year, my DH, DS, and I did the simulation and I was asked if I wanted to ride it with my DS (he could have rode twice), but I didn't feel well and didn't ride, so my DH and DS rode it together.

gigi1313,
All of the arcade games are free except one very small section. That section costs because you can turn in tickets for prizes. You don't use tokens, instead you use a 'card' that you pay for and swipe to use in the machines.

ssatterly,
DQ is my DS's (11 y.o.) favorite place to go at DWD now! He loves it here and there are lots of fun things to do there for the whole family. No one mentioned the computers on the 4th floor that go to the internet. There are lots of interactive simulation activities and many, many arcade type games to play. The pinball game can be played by everyone in the family at the same time too.

Here's a site that tells about DQ and also has a map.

Disney Quest is a big Arcade with cool Virtual Reality games.

The Arcade games that Do Not Give Tickets, are free with your admission. This means all those times you wished you could continue that shooter, or go one more round in Ms. PacMan, all you have to do is hit the red button on the machine and the machine thinks you paid to continue.

There is a section that requires real money, but its SkeetBall and such, that give tickets which you can redeem for prizes.

All the VR games are free.

There is hourly Animation lessons too. These are done on pen screen terminals. The lesson is free, if you wish to take home a printout of what you drew, you have to buy it. (I think its $6.00)

Theres a CheeseCake Factory Cafe and an Internet Cafe in there too.

As well as a fun bumpercar ride where you actually shoot kickballs at the other cars. (This is included in the admission too.)

Now is this worth it...

If you are a Video Game junky (like I am.. I'm 31 btw) and if your kids are in that 8-21 range, then Yes!
(Beware of the summer and weekends when the Locals are off from school. DQ is not inside a park so they get annual passes and go when they feel like it.)

Otherwise.. I would only visit if you are on a Length of Stay pass(Ultimate Park Hoppers) and it wasn't going to cost you anything extra to check it out.

Have Fun!

I'm leaving for WDW tomorrow, and will be visiting DQ Friday afternoon. Since Florida schools are now in session, I expect it won't be too crowded. :cool1:

My daughters and I paid to go on our last trip to the World.

We scheduled an entire day for DTD and was at DQ when they opened on a Tues. We went in late Nov. early Dec. I believe the day we went there was the Tues, after Thanksgiving. It was not busy at all. We had lunch at one of the restraunt's there, I think it was the Cheesecake Factory. They had computers w/internet and I caught up on my e mails, sent epost cards to friends at home and we stayed for well over 6 hours and really had a blast!

Will go again, but we left before the evening crowds. That would make a huge difference I'm sure.

Does the internet cafe cost anything? Or is it per min/hr??

Nope, its free. There are computer terminals in U shaped seating areas all around the outer edge of the area, where the Internet Cafe is.

:) Have Fun!

My DH and two teens were in virtual heaven! As for me, well, next time I'll go shopping instead. The only thing I really had fun with was Pirates of the Caribbean. After that, I pretty much stayed in the coffee bar where it was nice and quiet.

DH and DS spent the day driving one race car after another. DD discovered all the arcade games of the 80's like Pac Man, Qbert, and Tron and played them for a good three hours. It was definitely worth the money for the three of them.

HunnyPots, just wanted to tell you that you have a good looking family!

here's the deal with disney quest. having gone once last year (i had UPH tix) i won't go back.

i think in concept the place is a great idea. but i'm 28, and if you're like me, an adult who's not crazy about video games you won't be very entertained by disney quest.

it was empty when i went. in fact my partner and i were, 2 of 10 people in the entire place (we travel in sept. that's why) so we had our choice of ANY attraction. we tried aladdin's magic carpets, the rafting ride and the pirates of the caribbean. i definitely liked pirates and would do that again. 5 stars for cleverness on that one. but we stink at video games so we spent the rest of the 2 hours we were there wandering around and looking at things. it is an interesting place to look at. wonderland cafe is great and we got a chance to check our email for free. oh, we also liked the "retro" video game room with pac man, tron, frogger, ski-ball etc. now those are my kind of games! easy! that was a nice touch.

all in all, i'm glad i visited to see how the virtual reality works. if you've never experienced that do try it, but i wouldn't go back because it doesn't hold enough interest for me. the way i see it i could play video games at any arcade at home. there are so many more interesting real-life things to to see at disney i'd rather not waste my time indoors staring at computer landscapes.

ps-hunnypots - great photo!

Disney Quest is one of the reasons my 11 year old grandson loves to go to Disney. We never go during a crowded time so I can only tell you that we have never encountered crowds and the only broken attractions have been the Magic Mirror which is a real hoot. My daughter and I sometimes drop off the older kids and go shopping or have dinner at DTD. My grandson would stay from the time they open until closing if he could. If you buy your tickets from Ticketmania you save a bit on the price.

we just got back today...
the highlight for my 12 yr old daughter was Disney Quest... she went with my dh - her cousin (10 yrs old ) and his dad and everyone had an awesome time... they got there close to opening (around 11:30) and stayed until about 6:30pm... didn't spend any extra money as we could go to an arcade and pay and win tickets anywhere.... I'd highly recommend it if anyone in your group likes games...

p.s. - we bought tix from ticketmania and it was worth every penny since my dd can go through that amount of $$ at a paid arcade in just and hour or two
