Is Disney getting Greeeeeeeedy?

Actually Disney hasn't closed down all that much at DHS in the last year. AIE, Backlot Tour and LJS weren't exactly what we used to classify as E ticket rides. The Backlot Tour used to be really good when the park first opened but after the "studio" itself closed down, there really wasn't much point in keeping it. The issue to me is updating the attractions which are way overdue like for instance Muppet Vision 3D. LMA, Indiana Jones, and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie set are all way past their relevance and are only kept so there is something in the park to see. DHS has never had a lot of attractions anyway. Some of the best have been gone for awhile like Monster Sound Show and Superstar Television which both embodied the "Studio" concept. Both of those would have better stood the test of time rather than some rides based on movies which tend to become stale.

I didn't say they were closing E ticket rides. But because there's so little to do in that park, people actually do care about the loss of those lower level attractions.

The article I read, stated that multi-day vacations that included both bronze and silver would be priced at the higher silver rate. Since almost all weekends are either silver or gold, and my vacation always includes a weekend, I feel this is a way for Disney to 'cheat'. This doesn't sit well with me at all. I don't think I have seen this issue addressed yet here, and would like to know what others think about it. Thanks!

I don't see it as any different than Disney charging more for their resorts on weekends, as they do. I guess the work around would be to buy separate tickets, a batch for weekends and a batch for weekdays.

I didn't say that you said that. I was just stating the fact that the rides they did close weren't Tier 1 or E ticket rides and had become irrelevant.

Even switching out Beauty and the Beast would be a nice change. The addition of the Frozen show was a plus.

Sorry, I should have made my comments clearer. We buy multi-day passes because they are discounted. If the price we are paying now is the bronze level and we pay $300 for a five day pass, that brings the cost to $60 per day. Assume the silver level is $20 per day higher. My five day ticket that includes 3 bronze days and two silver days SHOULD cost $340, but it won't. It will cost $400 because all five days will be charged at the higher level. Buying 3 day bronze tickets and 2 day silver tickets won't help, because they average out to a higher per-day cost. If Disney intends to do this, they need to tweak the system so that people are only being charged for what they are actually getting. Someone else on this thread stated it pretty clearly--those guests buying both bronze and silver days should get a credit for the bronze days. And by credit, I mean a reduction in the price of the park ticket, not a buy-one-get-one-free coupon at an overpriced Disney restaurant.

I apologize again. Just my rant for the day. I've discussed this with my DD and we both agree that it is simply a way for Disney to raise their ticket prices SUBSTANTIALLY while trying to hide the amount of the raise. We're grateful that we got to go so many times while the parks were still affordable, and we'll continue to go as long as we can scrape the money together. When this becomes a reality, we foresee the addition of platinum, diamond and ruby tiers. Meanwhile, sign me up for an aluminum ticket.
